Well the dust has settled, with Legia and Sheriff doing the needful to bump Dundalk down to 20th in the rankings. Th 17 seeds in the second qualifying round are:

1, Scotland , Celtic, 42.785
2, Austria, RBS, 40.570
3, Denmark , Copenhagen, 37.800
4, Bulgaria , Ludogorets, 34.175
5, Belarus , BATE, 29.475
6, Poland, Legia, 28.450
7, Cyprus , APOEL, 26.210
8, Slovenia , Maribor, 21.125
9, Azerbaijan , Qarabag, 18.050
10, Kazakhstan , Astana, 16.800
11, Sweden , Malmo, 16.945
12, Serbia , Partizan, 16.075
13, Croatia , Rijeka, 15.550
14, Norway , Rosenborg , 12.665
15, Moldova , Sheriff, 11.150
16, Israel , HBS, 10.875
17, Iceland, FH, 6.175

There are 2 teams ranked ahead of us in the non-seeds, so even if one (or 2) of the above fails licencing we'll still be unseeded.

Assuming- and it's a big assumption- that UEFA do their fairly usual geographic grouping for the second round draw on June 19 (Monday week!) it might look something like this.

I reckon 7 or 8 of the seeded clubs could be grouped as 'Northern' for the draw: Celtic, Copenhagen, BATE, Legia, Malmo, Rosenborg, FH and possibly Astana.
Among the non-seeds there are 5 northern teams: Dundalk, Zalgiris (Lithuania), Dudelange (Luxembourg), Mariehamn (Finland) and Spartaks (Latvia). Linfield, TNS and Vikingur (Faroes) all start in round 1.

You can never be sure but it wouldn't be a big surprise if Dundalk were grouped with 5 or 6 of the northern seeds for the draw.

We could get Legia, Celtic or Copenhagen in pre-season, which would be a small blessing, but each would be very strong. BATE, Malmo and Rosenborg will be in mid-season and strong opposition. FH again are the obvious one you want- we got lucky in the draw last year. There's no other club (northern or otherwise) you'd really fancy a crack at. FH would give us maybe a 50-50 shot of progressing.

It's going to be BATE again, isn't it?

Of course it is but getting the 2 years in a row can keep us thinking positive on getting FH 2 years in a row. Is there any increase in the money pot from least season for getting to QR2. If you join a competition in a later round due to efforts and improving ranking you should get the spoils as if the previous rounds had been won!

We started in QR2 last year too Dell. There's no increase in prize money for starting in QR2 instead of QR1 (indeed you'll earn considerably more prize money by winning in QR1 and losing in QR2 than in just losing in QR2) but there are more coefficient points. It's all change from next year anyway.... with Cork getting a free pass into the Europa League even if they lose their first tie

Oh I get the the the system, i should have said entering at QR2 rather than getting to. It is changing sure but over previous years i felt that it was like getting an 'earned bye' and just that if you enter at OR2 or PO etc it should be treated as if the rounds were won through. It would have been major brnefit to to the small clubs without breaking in to the prize fund too much to annoy the larger league clubs.

Thats exactly what they do. Clubs entering in QR2 get the prize money they would have gotten for playing in QR1.

I can't find the link right now but you only receive Solidarity money for rounds in which you participate. This question has come up before for ourselves as Irish clubs go straight into QR2 (only 10 countries provide participants for CL QR1). The reason its called Soldarity Money is that it is designed to help defray the costs incurred in participating in a particular round.

Group 3
Seeded
Celtic (SCO)
Legia Warszawa (POL)
Maribor (SVN)
Malmö (SWE)
Rosenborg (NOR)
FH Hafnarfjördur (ISL)

Unseeded
Dundalk (IRL)
Vardar (MKD)
Zrinjski (BIH)
Winner of first qualifying round tie
Winner of first qualifying round tie
IFK Mariehamn (FIN)

Not a bad grouping..... FH are the weakest of the seeds and definitely one of the clubs we wanted. No BATE is a massive plus. And then it's personal preference whether you're happy with Celtic! Maribor is a bit of a curve ball but they're not brilliant and Slovenia would be a fabulous away trip.

Hypothetical question: IF we win our tie and two other seeds are knocked out, would we be seeded for the next round?

I think we might, as in the past in that scenario the unseeded team would then take the seeded teams 'place'

Seand will know more.

FH please !

We'd be seeded if we beat Celtic, Legia or Maribor, unseeded if we beat Rosenborg, Malmo or FH . The third round draw is made before the second round is completed, so we already 'know' the seeds in the third qualfying round:

Greece Olympiacos CC: 64.580
Winners of match involving Scotland Celtic CC: 42.785
Winners of match involving Austria Red Bull Salzburg CC: 40.570
Winners of match involving Denmark Copenhagen CC: 37.800
Winners of match involving Bulgaria Ludogorets Razgrad CC: 34.175
Winners of match involving Belarus BATE Borisov CC: 29.475
Winners of match involving Poland Legia Warsaw CC: 28.450
Winners of match involving Cyprus APOEL CC: 26.210
Winners of match involving Slovenia Maribor CC: 21.125
Winners of match involving Azerbaijan Qarabağ CC: 18.050

Poxy draw. Bit of a nightmare to get to as well, you're looking at 2 flights, there's no way to get to Trondheim without flying in from Oslo/Copenhagen. Club charter will be a very attractive (but expensive) option

Oslo and a 7 hour train trip, rail tickets about €100 on top of flights. could be an option.
