I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that one or the conditions of Kenny signing up with Dundalk was bringing in a fitness coach. Byrne did an excellent job with the club and the players bought into his methodology and reaped the rewards. Its no coincidence that we only see the best of the players we sign in the second season with us when they are as fit as the others

Baffled by some talking down the good Byrne did at the club during his time here, we were yards ahead of the rest of the league for 3 years without even kicking a ball being taken into account. That was never going to last as the other top clubs then followed suit with proper fitness, nutrition, strength & conditioning etc and with him cutting his hours down to a day a week though and us proper full time someone needed in there full time too. Understandbly he couldn't commit given his position in DCU, never mind other outside interests.

Scurrilous rumour now mind that he had a big falling out with one or two players in the weeks leading up to him leaving, not first team starters either. No idea if true or specific names though so take it as rumour!

He did a fantastic job and that's an excellent point by LFS that players really showed their peak in the second year. It was also no surprise to see all of the other bigger clubs copy and paste what we did from 2013.

He will be a big loss, there is no doubt about that, however like all clubs, key personnel move all the time and you just have to deal with it and get a replacement in, SK did say in an interview he will be replaced.

If you see it as a 'scurrilous rumour' why give it oxygen by posting it here?

Well if you followed your own advice you'd have a grand total of about 10 posts between here and foot.ie Ezeikial! ;p

Hey Captain, I didn't give you any advice. I just posed a question to you because of the apparent contradiction of what you posted.

No offence intended - it was meant 'tongue in cheek '

Eoin comes highly recommended @ well qualified for the job. A young man with loads of enthusiasm, worked with
Kilmacud Crokes ( and we all know about the condition of the Dublin team.) Should be a great addition to Dundalk FC. Champions League here we come.

Hope he is a success obviously but WTF does the Dublins GAA team's condition have to do with him. he worked with Kilmacud Crokes, a club team in Dublin.

Its like praising Glenmuirs S+C coach for level Dundalk were at.

Important to see the club acting quickly on this and getting a replacement in. Best of luck to Eoin in his new role.

Kilmacud Crokes have a big history with Dublin teams both in hurling & football. The point being its an excellent recommendation . They have a great history & won All Ireland & Leinster titles.

He's been sorely missed as I predicted.
