Good performance last night all things considering the opposition and competition. Impressed with the young lads. Also interesting to note that there was no john mountney, considering all the rumours floating about him atm.

On a separate note, last night was Shane Grimes' first start since his serious hamstring injury against St Pats last October. Considering that he was out of contract at the end of the season, it was a very loyal and supportive action by the club to give him a new contract for 2017, clear in the knowledge that it was likely to be over 6 months before he would play again.

Hat tip to Stephen Kenny, the club board and the owners for doing the right thing by the player

Mountney has a groin injury from the Shamrock Rovers game I believe, out for a few weeks as far as I know.

One fixture left to be played before the semi final draw St Pats v Firhouse, at least i didnt hear of it being played yet. Those in the Semi-finals are Dundalk, Shels and UCD. It would be a bit of a novelty if Firhouse turn over St Pats with them lookng over the shoulder at the relegation scrap in the league. Home draw hopefully and then avoid the winner of the remaining fixture as St Pats should go through. Trophy is a trophy and a bit like the EA Sports Cup when you get to the semi-finals it would be a shame not to win the competition. It is the chance for another couple of games for the young lads in senior football and anyone we need to get game time from the 1st team. it is also a very nice looking trophy! lol
