Sligo are deep in the relegation trouble and should be fighting for their lives.

We are coming off the back of an abysmal performance against Rovers and some may see it as having little to play for in the league. I sincerely hope that we approach this match with the right attitude and spirit

I wonder if there is an air of apathy around Oriel Web currently reflected in the paucity of comments. Maybe a mirror of the attitude displayed on pitch against Rovers and too often in other games this season?

In other news, preview of a match coming up tomorrow in Sligo

Team news

Chris Shields returns to the squad after serving a suspension last weekend against Shamrock Rovers. Niclas Vemmelund, Sean Gannon and Patrick McEleney are all in line to return to the squad after missing out the same game.

There's not a lot to say that hasn't already been said.

Assuming we don't go off the rails altogether the only interest in the League at this stage is to see how well Connolly integrates and can we turn the Rosenborg performances into something consistent enough to win the Cups.

I'm getting bad vibes about this. Sligo are in a corner, in a very serious position. They can't afford to lose. I hope that complacency doesn't creep in (maybe it has already)

Sligo Rovers boss Gerard Lyttle braced for busy weekend of ins and outs at the Showgrounds
His relegation-threatened team has the small matter of a crunch game against champions Dundalk to contend with.

Have we seen enough of Clifford to completely write him off? I'd like to see Conor get enough time to prove himself. Shields is limited and as many have said Skip is on borrowed time.
Garts seems to have escaped any criticism for his mistake against Shamrock Rovers. The lad is like teflon so he keeps his place. Hopefully Vemmulund and McEleney are back. Duffy could be rested.

I love Garts but you're right - a lot of the big match defining errors made in the last 12 months were made by either him or Rogers

It's just occurred to me that it's on the cards for Cork to win the League the night they play us.

This must not happen - even if it means throwing a game!

I don't think that's on the cards to be honest. Assuming ye win the rest of ye're games between now and then, If we win all our games, we win it at Harps. Even if we don't, there's a Rovers game between that and us playing ye.

1-1

They only need 11 so I think I needn't worry!!

Again having been in control & going 1 up we didn't kill the game off, instead we sit back & invited Sligo to come at us which they duly obliged & they deserved to level the scores. Vemuland, yet again was MOTH, he's getting better & better with each outing. I was somewhat surprised to see Stewart start the match, I have yet to witness any decent contribution from him & I'd suggest he may be one of a few players who will not be with us next season. Connolly on as a sub has clearly yet to settle but to be fair it's early days for him.

Second half Dundalk played all over Sligo but just could not break down the 8/9 men behind the ball. It seemed to me 1 point for Sligo was more important to them & they played accordingly. Talking of 1 point, this is a disappointing return for us over the last two games yet we really need to cement second place in the league ASAP, this can be done starting next Friday with a win v Limerick.

Finally, best wishes to Ciaran Kilduff who departs Dundalk FC, hope the move works out for him. It's will be very interesting to see who will come in for him.
