KENNY FOCUSED ON PROGRESSION AFTER EXTENDING CONTRACT
Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny has spoken of how ‘it has been a privilege’ to manage the Lilywhites since November 2012. Speaking to dundalkfc.com after putting pen to paper on a contract extension to the end of 2020, Kenny spoke about how his backroom team has played a major part in the success of the club.

This is wonderful news. A real shot in the arm coming into the latter stages of the season with 2 cups (3 if you include the Leinster Cup) and of course 2nd place. One year would have been good, 2 great but to have him here for another 3 plus years is just amazing news. The rebuild has started and securing Stephens signature was a vital part of our future. Another point to note is that there is no way he would have signed a long term deal if he wasn't happy with the plans for the future of the club.
Well done to Paul, Andy and Martin for making this happen. The future is bright, very bright.

Brilliant news and this was also the first thought I had Alan, he must have been satisfied that plans are in place to start off the rebuild project, there were references mentioned in his interview to improvements so if he is happy to sign for 3 more years, that's as strong an indication as can be that things are moving along nicely behind the scenes too.

Well done to Paul and Andy for securing the best manager in all of Ireland for another 3 years.

Couldn't have put it better myself. In fact any lingering doubts that were about regarding the club's future have been completely banished. It shows terrific work by the club owners & also faith by Stephen Kenny in his belief that his future lies with Dundalk FC as it makes further progress forward. Once again, congrats to all concerned.

I think that this is the most significant event of the year.

Stephen Kenny signing on for another 3 years is a clear demonstration of his commitment to the club and indicates that his ambition is being matched by the club owners and board. They fully deserve our appreciation and gratitude for their marvelous stewardship of the club since 2012.

There is obviously much work to be done to re-build our ability to win titles and compete for european group stages again - Stephen Kenny, along with the club owners and board are the team best placed to do this.

Best re-signing of this or any other season!
