You really do have to question if this is value for money. And what would be the impact on other players be?

I think Neal Fenn was on 2.5/3k a week with Cork back in the day, Shels were indeed paying huge money mid 00's, and Drogs if I remember correctly had a wage bill that went to a high of 37k a week in their sole league winning season.

Maybe they meant in recent times as the top end would not have been more than 1.5k for the past 4 or 5 years. Every club stabilised in terms of wages recently.

If exceptional players aged 22 / 23 were signed on 3-4 deals this would help reduce this type of scenario

Have to say we would be absolutely insane to offer that kind of salary. If anyone is worth that it would be mcmillan imho. Let's be honest we won't get any sell on value from mceleney. If he doesn't go cross channel now, then I feel it is extremely unlikely he will and no Irish club will pay an exorbitant transfer fee to us for his services. There is no current player in the league worth those kinda bucks.

It's possible that McMillan has also been offered similar?

Just on Sheppards comments, not overly bothered but he did give two contradicting reasons for not signing.

The first was because his girlfriend couldn't travel down, but that situation changed.

Second he couldn't trust Kenny.

Funny enough if he made his decision before the final you think he would have said something, especially when he claims how stressful it was going into the game knowing he would be taken off if he wasn't performing.

Anyways, like i said better off without him if he was only joining us because of his girlfriend and not because he wanted to play for us, not sure we could trust a player with that attitude

It was a huge mistake by Kenny. It was a deliberate attemp to destabilise Corks preparations, and it backfired.

I listened to the interview, yes maybe Kenny should have just said 'absolutely no comment' when asked in the cup final week but it was a highly tense week with everything that was going on so I can understand why he responded like that.

On the interview last night, I thought the two boys on 2FM Game On went far too easy on Sheppard, ok everyone is allowed to change their mind, but they should have pressed him 'but why did you travel all the way up there and sign the pre contract a month before you even won the league ?

Water under the bridge now, but Sheppard is still making out he has done absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever.

Shep is a good player but we are well stocked with wingers.

I agree, we dodged a bullet. His reasons for coming here were not the right ones.

I can understand his frustration about the news leaking though. That was unprofessional and disrespectful to him.

Hoban / Murray are better attacking options also, but Sheppard is a decent player, agree on above though on wingers.

More importantly, with McMillan looking odds on now for his move out, we will need another striker, and I hope he is not going with Stewart as the back up. I don't think he offered anything like what we need and we really only saw the best of him when games were already won. Also Murray is not a main striker, so we will definitely need cover for Hoban.

Come to think of it, we were damn lucky McMillan didn't get injured after Kilduff left in the summer.

I like McMillan a great player and has served us very well, but how long does it take to decide us or Scotland it's been stretched beyond a joke at this stage.make your mind up and let's move on.
