A loan deal gives both club and player options come July. Great incentive for the player to do well and get some Europa appearances to boost his profile

I think a loan is a good move for both parties. The concern I’d have though is the amount of loan moves he has had. Seems to move around quite a bit. Suppose the same for Chvedukas.

I’d be keeping an open mind on both but no better man than SK to spot a talent and get the max return.

A loan deal is fine but not sure a lot can be gained from a loan of only 4 months...

If he becomes a free agent in the summer then it makes some sense assuming we get to sign him if he turns out to be very good, or cut him loose if he is not so good.

It doesn't say when in July though, if its end of July that is given us 5 and a half months, and at least some EL games, if its the 1st July, its just over 4 months.

Anymore links on Eoghan Stokes ? We definitely need a striker.

I don’t understand why we are signing him on a 6 month loan deal and I hope this is not the new trend?

We know that new players take a while to break into the first team Conor Clifford, Stephen Kinsella, Sean Hoare for example.

Does this stop us signing a new player for the full season?

The only circumstances where you can sign a player in that way is if he is already registered to another club and he is coming in on loan.

According to the FAI registration rules, if a player is being signed on a contract with a LOI club, it must be at least to the end of that season.

The loan deal will be to the end of his current contract with his parent club - almost certainly 1 July.

Assuming that he is then out of contract with his Italian club, there is nothing to prevent the player and club then agreeing to a contract that keeps him to the end of 2018 season (or into 2019 or 2020 if both parties agree). It is even possible that an understanding or agreement already exists

James Rogers is fast becoming the number one source for Dfc stories.

His latest tweets say no deals for trialists Jeff McGowan or Tyler Blackwood. Says SK denies any approach for Eoghan Stokes (let's wait to see). New signing expected before Brentford game

I have not seen any pre season games, but I closely followed the reports and spoke to a good few who were at these games, it was clear McGowan was not even close to what we were looking for. Tyler only played the second game in Spain, not good for his prospects with any club if the decision was a no after one game.

Some are suggesting this could be Sean Scannell, as they did the links to a prev U21 Ireland player and who was with a PL club (Huddersfield), he is London born and is 28.

I thought Scannell was a winger though? We need a centre forward who can hold up the ball, bring midfield players into play, and score goals (of course)

Cool we're going full on Kevin Keegan...... Attack is the best form of defense. :-D
