Ronan Murray from Galway is reported to be expected to be signed over the coming days. He was named in the PFAI team of the season recently and scored a good goal against us. Cork were odds on to sign him.

Murray would be a great addition, but I wouldn't rule Cork out either.

Wouldn't believe you anyway, previous statements include
"DmcM going to Dundee - St Johnstone came in with better offer
RB going to Hibs - aksing for too much money
These two are definite
SG to Rovers is likely with Madden going other way." -

Not one of them is true![/quote]

As for Gannon, people can chagne their minds. This time last year Finn was staying in town until he was offered a job, a car, and a job for his girlfriend.

Patrick McEleney has said previously that if he stays in Ireland, it will be with Dundalk

DUNDALK PLAYMAKER PATRICK McEleney says he won’t move to another SSE Airtricity League club but has not ruled out a potential cross-channel transfer.

http://www.the42.ie/mceleney-addresses- ... 8-Oct2017/

While it is possible that he could change his mind, It is obviously in his interests to have more than one club negotiating for his signature.

He has also said recently that it is 50:50 is he will be at Dundalk next season - I think it is even more likely than that. I expect Stephen Kenny to do everything in his power to keep him here

That's the time for a holiday / spend time with family at home etc. The Derry link would seem an odd one at this stage in his career, I could see that in maybe 3 or 4 years time.

On age, there is obviously a cut off when most players accept they will not make a move to the UK, that's the time to offer a longer contract, suits all parties, and perfectly demonstrated in the Gannon deal yesterday.

Maybe I'm wrong, but did McEleney not say he wouldn't go to another club in Ireland, only UK/overseas?

Edit: Apologies ZEK, great minds think alike

Akinade and Hery both signed for Waterford. Powers is fairly pumping money in down there.

Nice to see us linked with Ronan Murray.

McEleney was also offered a 3 year deal sometime back, but he turned it down to hold out for a better move.
Maybe he does it every winter but I heard he has completely packed up his house in town and moved back home.

I work beside were McEleney was living. The removal vans were outside his house the Monday morning after the cup final. I presumed the same though, that he was just flying north for the winter.
King Kenny!

Neil O'Riordan in yesterdays Irish Sun on Sligo's hopes to sign Ronan Murray

Galway top scorer Murray is another target and, although they face competition from Cork City, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers, their location may give them the edge.

A more bullish report from leagueofireland.ie from lunchtime today
Ronan Murray Set To Sign For Dundalk FC
Ronan Murray, who has been named in the PFAI team of the year for this season is set to sign for Dundalk for the upcoming season.

Murray who played with Galway United all of last season after coming back from the UK is set to sign for Stephen Kenny’s side after discussions with the club.

The Mayo man has offers from Dundalk & Sligo Rovers but apparently Murray’s preferred destination is Oriel Park.

Cork City seemingly have put in late interest for the striker.

Hopefully that's it. I didn't think much of it until I heard he' spoken to Shiels yesterday.

I'd be amazed if mceleney moved to Derry unless for personal reasons.
Only a fortnight ago he was pretty clear that unless a UK offer materialized he 100% would be here.
Also on the pitch it would be a huge move backwards with them losing a few of their top players with the possibility of a few more leaving.
Delighted to see Gano resign. While 3 year deals are a bit scary if anyone deserves it he does. His service and loyalty deserves to be rewarded.
You never know but the way he celebrated against Rovers in both cups I doubted he would move there, hopefully a few move will resign shortly.
