What nonsense!

To add to the 3 you mentioned (1 who is your captain ffs)
Sheppard, Beattie, O Hanlon all fromDublin
Dunleavy Donegal
Keohane England
Barry Wicklow

Thats near 1/2 your squad not from Cork

El Paso wrote:Yeah that doesn't sound right at all, doubt they had a problem with Waterford lad Maguire when he was banging in the goals either. They're a bit of a weird club, but I've never heard anyone being that parochial.

I wouldn't be surprised if McNamee and Sadlier are unhappy - they're either played out of position or dropped. But I don't think it's to do with where they're from.

Believe my, Paso, you come across more weird than most with your hatred for our club on here. Stop being so bitter all your life.

Is buster supposed to be a City fan? That is the biggest load of nonsense I've ever read in my life haha.

Take McCormack for instance. He was more than happy to become club captain and commit to another couple of years in our great City. Sounds like a guy sitting in the corner of the dressingroom crying before games alright.

Benson only signed a year extension and Duffy is stalling at the moment so they are the two who would be most likely to leave imo.
Of the others I cant see them wanting to move, not this season anyway. O'Donnell is earmarked for coaching so he will could be looking for a dual role contract as his game time will probably have to be limited. Massey and Mountney are club men now and would be a real surprise if either left. Connolly, if out of contract, has had a lot of time and money already invested in him and if he has any sense he will realise that he is only improving now under the managers guidance and to look to move on would be a step backwards. That he signed for a fee i'd imagine the contract was longer than was usual to give out. Murray is one that could be moved on.
Chevdukas with the mysterious chronic ankle injury it will be interesting to see if he is still with us next season. From comments from the manager the impression is given that he thinks he should be ok to play eg saying that 'he' thinks he needs an op and when to have it, hopefully after the season but its up to him type stuff. I think there is a growing frustration there. Shades of another Connolly we signed for a transfer fee years ago and never kicked a ball due to a toe injury that nobody could resolve and was released. Maybe Im being harsh but if Chevdukas playing is not going to worsen an injury and going by what was said after scans etc Looks like Sava will move on too after rumours of another keeper in.

Mostly speculation of course as nobody really knows at this stage whats happening behind the scenes. Players leaving will have a good bit to do with players coming in or the squad size would be nuts, especially when the manager is so reluctant to use the squad extensively. In saying that we will probably sign another batch of of lads for the number 10 role or attacking midfielders in general lol.

Signings i'd hope to see would be another striker, maybe a different type of front man to Hoban and Kelly, one that could play with one or other of the lads to give an option to change formation. McMillan like maybe or certainly a pacey player. Maybe Kelly has pace but Hoban doesnt. Replacement for Duffy and a defensive midfielder as cover for Sheilds and O'Donnell if Chevdukas isnt for that role or is going to have injury problems. A specialist right full as while Hoare deputised well for Gannon superbly in the league we saw how he was caught out in Europe, I also think Gannon needs proper competition for his place to keep his form up - any young Alan Keanes about? Thats my ramble for the evening ha!

Forgot about Byrne. If he gets game time injury free and makes an impact at Glentoran then he has a future back in Oriel. I was thinking they are all kinda similar enough and maybe having a different type of striker available to mix things up if we needed to, but the manager doesnt mix things up at all really be it formation of picking his favoured 11.

If O'Donnell doesnt get back to full fitness and i'm not suggesting he wont, but he will have to be minded, Chevdukas being an odd situation (which will hopefully be sorted and he will be a great player for us) and if he doesnt get back playing fully for whatever reason then an injury to Sheilds or Jarvis and we are very light. Jarvis has been good when pushed in to a defensive midfield role but will he really be a proper replacement for Sheilds who we seriously rely on to make our system work.

Connolly on the left as a first choice replacement for Duffy? Well unless he can improve on his delivery of crosses then he is all jet and no pilot. We would badly miss Duffy just for his delivery and set piece at the corner never mind free kicks. Connolly wont become a dead ball expert with all the will in the world by next season. Again Id be delighted to eat my words on that if he improves that part of his game to Duffy's level.

McGrath in to centre mid is a good call and with Mountney fit wide right is covered but an injury to either and again the squad looks light or unbalanced. I'd hate to see McEleney played wide as he has in the past for us as he isnt half as effective. I jsut get the feeling that Murray is not in the picture for some reason - he was playing very well before injury hit and then when he came back he just was nowhere near the side, supporters expected him to come back in such was his form before but he got no chance at all for a long spell.

If the A. Bolger rumour is true than he would have the tenaciousness and energy in midfield to make an impact. He would benefit from the strength and conditioning expected at Dundalk too. McEneff signing speaks for itself. With Kenny Shiels looking like he is on borrowed time that signing could have a lot to do with who replaces Shiels if McEneff doesnt go abroad. Sadlier would be something of a coup as much for the fact that Cork wouldnt want a player to sign for the rivl club. He would though be able to cover a number of positions like on the wing. He would be better suited to playing ball with Dundalk and better coached too.

I would agree on the point of a smaller squad and as an alternative see investment in the ground. I dont think though that the cost of the playing budget will have an either or impact on ground development as I dont think the saving of 5 players wages even if thats a wedge of money saved would be diverted to improving Oriel. It would be piecemeal at best until plans are announced on a ground development programme which will happen at some point and add to the list of LoI 'planned' stadia development.

According to Irish Sun Swindon are interested in Sadlier.

It also mentions an option for a 1 year extension on his Cork contract - I wonder is it the club or player who holds the option

Surely our top teams especially ourselves and cork have to be more of an attractive option than a league 2 backwater like swindon.

To me or you possibly, but to an English born player who is interested in a return home, more money, and a chance to climb the English leagues, Swindon Town is probably a good option

Vigeroux in goals at Swindon. Hasn't kept a clean sheet I think since he left Waterford. Been difficult start for him back over there

10 goals conceded in 4 league games!! Difficult isn’t the word!!!

On signing for Swindon over us or Cork, I am always of the opinion that playing in England in any of the lower divisions always gives a player a better chance of being spotted than he’d have here. The FA Cup is the perfect opportunity for a player to play against a team from a higher division and to put himself out there and get noticed. Denis Irwin always springs to mind in this scenario.

O'Neill hinting he is about to call Duffy in to the Ireland squad which would very well end any chance we have of keeping him next season.

He'll be very difficult to replace with nobody within the league even close.

Maybe Dylan McGlade at Longford is a prospect that Stephen Kenny is tracking?
