Good interview. Much better than I find the town "boring".

James Rogers‏
@jamesdundalk

Some transfer news from Dundalk expected by the end of the week. Stephen Kenny says he is focusing on trying to retain his out of contract players, in particular Gannon, Benson, McEleney and McMillan and expects some news on that by the end of the week

Depending on the future of that quartet, Kenny said he doesn't expect too many arrivals during the off season but admitted to wanting a centre back and striker. Don't be surprised if a left back and midfielder are snapped up too

Looks like McMillan Is on the Move.

Benson deal is not on as He is looking For championship level wages, although I cant see us paying him anywhere near that money either.

I might be clutching straws, but it doesn't read like a done deal.

I have a few mates in Scotland and they’ve been to a few Dlk games. They said without a doubt St Johnstone are not a patch on recent Dlk sides and they’d be very surprised if they are paying more than 2k a week to most players.

The only attraction I can see is he wants to try it at a full time league in much better stadia. He won’t be going there to win trophies if he goes and I can’t see him going to make it financially. Prob better deal but how much more I wonder.

How much could we go to ? 1.5k a week ?

Can’t understand why either would risk their potentially lucrative long term post-football careers for a couple of medal free years in Scotland. “Why should we hire you Mr Benson/McMillan to work at our firm when these other guys have recent experience and you’ve not worked in this industry for three years?”

What are they risking? Nada. Zero. Zilch.

3 years? Nothing in the grand scheme of things - they're highly qualified, highly educated guys. They'll have no problems securing highly paid employment when they hang up their boots.

Good luck to them.

It's hard to see how the world of architecture would change in the next few years that would deem McMillans qualification irrelevant. Even Benson's degree in actuary and MBA it's highly sought after qualification. They will easily be able to use it when they finish.

I am certain also like accountancy there are certain hours of CPE's you need to submit annually to keep your qualification

3 year deal is a massive statement from the club. Went from 1 yr deals to 3 yr deals. Might entice the likes of mcmillan to sign back on or entice new players to the club.
