Dundalk V Bray Wanderers | Fri 13 Oct | 7:45pm | Oriel Park

While 3 points are required to have any hope of preventing Cork from eventually sealing the league title on Friday night, it is still likely that if Cork don't pick up the required points away to Bohs, they will finish off the job at home to Derry the following Monday.

Stephen Kenny will want to win, but yet again has to balance this with the needs for recovery in an injury ravaged squad. Difficult to predict the team line-up, but I still think 3 points are likely

Team news

Steven Kinsella, John Mountney and Dane Massey all miss out through injury. As does Niclas Vemmelund and Patrick McEleney. Tommy Stewart and Chris Shields are doubts. Conor Clifford is serving a six month ban for betting offences.

Hard to predict the team tonight (midfield & up-front at least) as we're carrying so many injuries. SK will want to make Cork win the title, rather than hand it to them, so I expect as strong a side as we can put out without risking any of the injury doubts.

Would imagine SK would like to keep McMillan on the bench, but Stewart is still doubtful (after not being fully fit on Tuesday) and we've got a week to recover afterwards, so guessing DM will start.

O'Donnell's fitness is vital for the rest of the season. Having played 120 mins on Tuesday and with more cover in MF, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench. Same with Chris Lazarus Shields.

Despite Connolly being kicked off the park by Rovers and limping badly after the game, there's no mention of his fitness on the club website, so hopefully he's fit to face his old club.

Perhaps something like:

-----------------Rogers
Gannon - Gartland - Hoare - Grimes
----------O'Connor - Benson
Connolly -----McGrath---------Duffy
----------------McMillan

Subs from: Sava, Hughes, O'Donnell, O'Keefe, Shields*, Ubaezouno, Stewart*, Watters, Woods

Out: Massey, Vemmelund, McEleney, Mountney, Kinsella, Clifford
Doubtful: Shields, Stewart

Not that I’d ever bet against Dundalk. But Bray are a serious price tonight. 8/1 with PP to win, 5/1 for the draw. After the excursions of last Tuesday, one of these bets is highly likely.

Looking like a draw so far. What ate the odds at half time?

Close call, but fully deserved.

Most stupid red card of the season ?
Topped only by Fabio O Brien's in the Conor era ?

Blooding our youth players while still winning, still pushing a lost cause is seriously impressive stuff.

If my aunty had balls she'd be my uncle and all that... but we'd be top of the table tonight if we'd done what we should have done and beaten Cork in Oriel Park in June.

It took us too much time to get the centre of defence sorted. We wasted too much time on Barrett, Vemmellend coming in changed our season.

Agreed. I remember saying back in March or so that I thought Hoare and Vemmelund would be our centre back partnership by the summer and I still think it will be eventually, assuming we can keep Vemmelund. Barrett did fine beside Boyle but him and Gartland was a bit of a disaster.

Midfield was a mess for far too long too, though

I personally think the only game that could have made a difference was away to Cork. If we have won that night they would now need a minimum of a win and a draw. Any ifs and buts about games before Maguire went are countered by the realisation that Cork would never have let him leave if they thought we could catch them.

The difference is cork know how to play us we don’t know or are unable to play against them,Out of nine points against them we have one ,which ultimately will cost us

Preston paid Maguire's release clause so Cork had no say in whether he stayed or not. The best they got was getting Preston to wait until Cork were out of Europe.
