Dundalk V Bohs | Fri 20 Octl | 7:45 | Oriel Park

Postby Ezeikial » Wed Oct 18, 2017 10:04 pm

Last home game of the season - is a good enough reason to be in Oriel Park on Friday.

Stephen Kenny will want to see a continuation of good recent form and results. He will also be anxious to break the 70 points mark again and will see 3 points as being important to achieving this for the 4th successive season.

Bohs are decent opposition and it could well prove be a competitive end-of-season match

Team news

Dundalk will be without captain Stephen O’Donnell who misses out through suspension after accumulating five yellow cards while Conor Clifford is serving a worldwide six month suspension for betting offences. There are a number of injury concerns with Steven Kinsella, Niclas Vemmelund, Patrick McEleney, Dylan Connolly, Thomas Stewart, Dane Massey, John Mountney and Chris Shields all struggling with a variety of knocks.

Pity, but no new injuries was the most important thing. Didn’t see it obviously but presumably Stewart didn’t offer anything to make you think he’s worth keeping

Also Cork can’t pass our 2015 or 2016 points totals now which is a nice crumb of comfort.

On the flip side Turners Cross remains our only come from behind point all season

Thought we played Bohs of the park. Bar great strike by Aki , a blatant Peno not given , what was wrong with the goal , hit the post , missing Massey , Mountenay , O ' Donnell , Connolly , Mc Elheney , Clifford. A nothing game for us , big plus -,no injuries. Cork hammered by Pats. Roll on Aviva. Even I think this is a biased summary.

I know I am in the minority here but on his on pitch behaviour I would sign Akinade in the morning... real handful who scores some exceptional goals. Cork are interested in him apparently.
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

On his playing form, I'd agree with you.

However, he is forever tainted by his past. Look at the crowd of young girls that come to our games. It is brilliant to see. How could the club sign a player with such a heinous criminal conviction?

It was a pity it was such a dreadful night for football but with so many changes it was just hard for us to find a consistent rhythm, the weather especially in the second half made it virtually impossible.

It’s disappointing though that the long unbeaten run stretching back domestically to June and to July (in 90 mins v Rosenborg) was ended.

Post match interview with Stephen Kenny, in which he describes the possibility of retaining Niclas Vemmulend as "difficult"

An entertaining game with a much depleted Dundalk side on view. Thought a draw would have been fair for both sides. Excellent strike from Aki which went in & also same from Mc Grath which didn't. A stonewall penalty if ever I saw one near the end, with the referee as close to it as anyone, poor decision.

On Aki, yes a great player & always a thorn in our side when we play them. Elsewhere I wrote where a second chance is deserved by all but in this circumstance I make an exception. There's no way Dundalk could entertain signing him.

If SK signed Akinade there would be howls of protests. But if he performed well and he scored goals, the majority of fans would support him.
