And zenit all level with Minsk. Felt like that one was always going to happen. Trencin have been around qualifying rounds for a while and close on a few occasions but look to have pulled off I've of the biggest results for them.

We need to be clear about what happened against Larnaca - we were trashed. No if. buts or maybes.

The team management and club owners need to be singularly focused on that reality and not paper over the cracks if we are to have any serious ambitions for European group stage football again.

As I said, it wouldn't have been enough even if we had have scored. We were thrashed on the second leg for sure. Not as bad as sturm graz it must be said.

Thought I'd get a bit of craic out of watching Cork flunk out.

I was wrong, they're as dull as a box of rocks even when they're being thrashed

Cork have not scored in the last 6 European games.

All well and good seeing your rival flunk out of Europe. However, its indicative and a reflection of the league on a whole, of which we are pretty of.

I was rooting for cork but once that goal didn't come after twenty minutes in either leg, it never looked likely.

Dudelange beating Warsaw!!!!! Jaaaaaaysus, that is more of an eye opener and an even bigger result than when we beat borisov I think. Are we even getting left behind by teams from Luxembourg?

Sometimes it's hard to figure out some Cork fans

John O'Sullivan
@johngosullivan

Positives from tonight.

Johnny Dunleavy getting game time
Ronan Coughlan playing in Europe
Shep's and Beattie performances
Kerr/Doyle debates
Annoying Dundalk fans who lost 4-0

Thank God that's over. Cork City with the second worst away result by an Irish team in Europe this season, after Dundalk.

Saw those, didn’t bite.

Imagine thinking a 5-0 defeat is somehow better than a 4-0 defeat because you spread it out by losing both legs.

Imagine thinking losing twice by a higher aggregate score is better that a win and a draw.

Losing all four of your European games to nil is nothing to boast about - but these things are all relative I suppose and it could end up being the highlight of their season.

Declan O'Brien and Alan Cawley fairly laid into cork city about their ambitions in Europe compared to Dundalk on soccer republic.

Stephen Kenny on Dundalk ambitions for next season in Europe, if qualified for the Champions League

At Dundalk we are not at the level that we were at in 2016, but I think next year - if we continue to improve - we will be at better than that level. We would feel that next year we have a chance of getting to the group stages

Our old buddies AEK Larnaca stormed through to the EL Group Stages smashing Sturm Graz 7-0 and Trencin of Slovakia 4-1 on aggregate

Was checking the results there. Cruised through would be an understatement.

Dudelange also cruised through to the group stages. They were 5-0 up on aggregate at one stage. That, I thought, is a far bigger result than ours against BATE . However, if you went by the ten year coefficient, they are a good few places ahead of us.

The amount of Irish teams languishing at the bottom of the pile out of about 500 clubs is depressing.

Sarpsborg 08 is the group stage run of the season imo. Not the easiest of draws and first time qualifying for Europe. Getting 16 clubs to co-operate, imagine that!!
