Brentford match - Weds 7th Feb
Hi. Hope you are all doing well. We're from Brentford and are thinking of coming over for the friendly next Wednesday (7th). We were just wondering what the feeling was for this match. Will there be much of a crowd? Where is decent to stay? What bars are good to have a few beers in Dundalk before and after the game. Will the town be quiet or lively (what time does the last bar shut .. we'll be looking for late doors).
Any info would be useful
Mank thanks

Most B & B's around town are 100%, Crowne Plaza Hotel (7euro in taxi into town) should be cheap enough esp as its midweel.
Bars before hand, Usually Peader McArdles, Wee House, Kennedys all close enough to Oriel. In town centre, Rum House, Beerkeeper, Vinegar Mans places to go.
As its a Weds night, apart from students (Ridleys the nightclub will be open till 2.30/3am, its upstairs in Rum House) everywhere will be pretty dead and most places will close early

There's a good bar in the ground and you'll be welcome there before and after the match. I expect it'll be very low key, with all due respect my friend Brentford Reserves ain't gonna drag too many casual fans out for a friendly in February!
Hope you have a good trip. Dundalk is only about 45 minutes from Dublin airport and Dundalk and the north of County Louth is an interesting and historic part of the country though it's massively undersold as a tourist destination.

The town would be quiet enough on a Wednesday night. Wouldn't expect more than 800 at this match. Hard to know.
Closest B&B would be Innisfree. Literally across the road from Oriel and 5 minute walk from town centre. Glen Gat Guesthouse is close to Oriel Park too and even closer to the town. Plus the people who own the Glen Gat are Dundalk fans too.
Pubs: Kennedys which is just down the road from Oriel would be the best pub and closest to go too. Call into the Lilywhite Lounge too which is located in the clubs grounds too for a pre & post match pint (and one at half time too).

Thanks for the replies. We'll be in Wednesday late afternoon. We were considering staying in Dublin on Wednesday night. Then we did a bit of research and found out ... it's pretty impossible to get back to Dublin after the match. We we're currently trying to find somewhere to plot up and stay.
We'll check out the bars you suggested. We'll definitely be up for a bit of a late night .. so will be sniffing any late night drinking options for sure.
We're hoping to record our Dundalk podcast (http://www.audioboom.com/channel/beesotted) from the match ... before .. and after the game .. so if you see a couple of guys sticking a microphone under peoples noses on the night, you know who we are.
WIth regards the team - - not sure who will be on this trip. A few weeks ago the B team played Reading U23 but because we have a load of players unable to get into the A team at the moment or back from injury, it was more of an A minus team than a B team with people like Alan Judge, and John Egan (both on the fringes of the Eire team), Dalsgaard (Danish International), Clarke, MCleod (ex Rangers) and Marcondes in the side. So was a good showing (we eded up winning 9-1). This will be a tough match though we're well aware.
Oh we also just signed Chiedozie Ogbene from Limerick. Not sure if he'll come on this tour though. We're hoping he does as he needs a bit of game time.
We'll probably start off on Kennedy's ......
Cheers. See you Wednesday ......

Adorjan making the usual noises about working hard and hoping to get into the team.
I hope he gets a decent run tonight along with Chvedukas
