Agree 100%. No interest in it at all. Just another session to improve match fitness and try out a few things. Guess I'm just not a committed enough supporter to be worrying about preseason results.

LOL - no need to worry about the result!

I suppose that some committed supporters just don't do pre-season matches!

I just hope we get through it with no injuries and hopefully the right result.

According to the FAI Twitter machine:

We can confirm there will be a minute’s silence in memory of Liam Miller prior to tomorrow’s President’s Cup between @DundalkFC and @CorkCityFC.

A minutes applause from Dundalk fans in the 22nd minute would also be appropriate

I for one am delighted Sheppard didn't join us. Bang average player.

I'm sure it would be much appreciated. The handful of City fans there will be applauding on 22.

Tough day ahead for some of our lads.

It would be better if he stayed away, given the circumstances.

The nastiness and disrespect he displayed towards Dundalk would be totally out of place on such a sad and poignant occasion.

This will be my first time watching the team this year and I`m really looking forward to the match, should be a decent test against what will be our closest challengers for the season ahead.

Others may disagree about the match, but I would think they are probably in the minority, next Friday v Bray has 3 points on offer and is a more important match, no question, but tomorrow's match shouldn't be dismissed, I can't think of a better opposition to end the pre season build up than Cork.

The Liam Miller applause should and will be respected, RIP, what a player he was, I watched him a fair bit when he was with Celtic early 00's.

As for Shepherd, he sought out to sign for us, he changed his mind, could he have done a job, probably could have, but there is better out there. As for his tomorrow, I'd personally leave it, but I can't see him not getting anything less than a hot reception. I'd be more interested in a good performance, no injuries and a win would be nice.

Team news

Dundalk will be without the services of Stephen O’Donnell (calf), John Mountney (knee) and Patrick Hoban (thigh) for the visit of Cork. However Dean Jarvis, Brian Gartland and Robbie Benson all come back into contention having missed Wednesday’s victory over Brentford B.

He won't have long to wait, they are back in 4 weeks time for the first league meeting of the season.

McNulty and Miller go way back. I'd certainly expect cork to be excusing him from this one on compassionate grounds. Tough game for a lot of the Cork boys after the tragedy.

Reports from Cork indicate that apart from McNulty, Dunleavy and Buckley are injured while there are doubts about Sheppard, Beattie and McNamee

While this is a friendly, there’s no doubt it will be as a competitive friendly as you will ever see. Neither team will want to lose, none more so than Dundalk. It feels like such a long time since we put one over on these and I’ll be disappointed if we don’t beat them.
