2018 Home Attendances

Postby mike » Sat Feb 17, 2018 8:35 pm

Just a note to say I`ll start this off soon, but seems to be a lot of varied figures on the first game. I thought there was a lot more than 2,451 last night v Bray and some have since said there were issues with scanners.

I've even seen a 3k figure reported in some circles, would be good to get final agreement on the Bray crowd so I can start this off.

A lot of people (like me) using complimentary tickets last night as their season ticket renewals haven't come into the office yet. This might have skewed the number perhaps if the attendance is usually paying tickets + season tickets.

I think it was obvious to most regulars that the attendance was well above the circa 2500 reported

Poor crowd, hopefully it picks up for the future games. I suppose fans cherry pick their games and these type of games are just for the hardcore.

Wasn't a poor crowd at all. Did you read the other comments? Was well over the reported figure id guess around 3100/3200.

Talking to a lad at the game the other night after they said 2400 at the game... he said I wouldn’t like to be here with twice the crowd...

Looked like a good bit more than that to me too. I suppose Bray only had 60-80 there so that's keeping it down a touch but closer to 3000 I'd have thought. We had the lowest official attendance in the Premier this weekend incidentally

I`m going to record 2,451 as the figure when I get a chance to put up the full list of home league games. There should be no reason why the club would understate any attendance, there may have been some sponsor / complimentary tickets not included, but 2,451 probably covers the figure for all ST / tickets sold and this was the official crowd announced.

This may have been the lowest of the 5 PD official attendances of the weekend, but apart from Sligo who had their 3,000th game promotion on, I would say ours was (by far) the lowest away support, prob less than 50. Bohs would have had just under 1k away support, Pats prob 500, and Waterford first game back in years, all valid reasons for higher crowds.

We probably should have got more than circa 2,500 but if we had played anyone like Bohs, Pats, Derry etc, it would have been just under 3k, maybe more.

Can someone explain the reasons if physical heads would be removed from attendance figure.

For instance are all st holders counted or is there a run rate for st holders?
why would concessions not be included just wondering.

I would think that the fai would like some breakdown of the figures and also us for demographics and analysis purposes

My St wasnt scanned bit I was 30 mins late and there were a few in before me at the hatch

Am I correct in saying that our annual average attendances fell last year from year before?

What might be useful is a supporters proposal to the new owners as to what is necessary to improve attendances on match nights? Apart from Ground Improvements which are long term, what suggestions do we feel are important to improve attendances? Surely its possible to build the average supporter base to 3500 at every home game considering the success we have had in recent years, and the high profile players we have in the team?

I had some figures to hand as they were saved down, some previous season averages listed.

2012 = 950

2013 = 1,975

2014 = 2,535

2015 = 3,147

2016 = 2,739

2017 = 2,705

Mike, I'm confused by your post. It is clear that 2451 was announced over the PA, but are you saying that you think 2451 is correct or incorrect?

2,451 was the figure reported by DFC, so this will be recorded in terms of stats on here.

That is the only figure you can use. However, While I’d be inclined to give the club the benefit of the doubt, I have to say that figure of just under 2,500 appeared well off the mark. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard it and I had to ask the guy beside me in disbelief “did he say 3000 or 2000 ? “
