I've finally got around to putting up the attendances, will update above post throughout the season. Will also put a bit more colour and enter in averages and totals when I have a better device, working on an older laptop at the minute.

Attendance figures are generally little more than of passing interest to me, but there appears to be growing disagreement and dissatisfaction with the official declared attendances so far this season.

The declared figure of 2215 for the Waterford match again appeared to be low.

Have the club changed how they count attendances?

Are season ticket sales up or down compared to last year?

Were previous years matches over-stated or this years under-stated?

Gotta agree again the reported attendance seemed well under what it appeared to be.
I would have said it was closer to 2800/2900 going off the attendances announced over the last few years.

Last night may not have looked like over 1k less than the Cork game, but I had a good look around before half time and a few areas were less populated compared to last week. This included the top corner of the stand near the carrick road side, the town side terrace stand side and the shed wasn't as full as last week.

I think what's more concerning is why a lot of supporters appear to be picking their home matches and why they are doing this. I said it before, I can only go on figures DFC announce, but there should be no reason for them to under publish any attendance.

We should be getting 3k or very close to most weeks, regardless of any away support. This team is worth it.

Mike - what is your opinion on whether the numbers reported are correct or not?

I'd like to see more attending matches, but my opinion on the Waterford match is, I was genuinely surprised it was only 2,215, it looked a little more.

I've updated the figures at the start of the thread, our average is now 2,528 on the figures that have been reported.

3,056 last night v Rovers. I think there was a slighlty reduced away support compared to Bohs, but either way the crowd was down by 207 on that game. Live tv would have probably been a factor also especially for those who would have had to travel, Dub based Dlk fans etc.

This was still the 3rd attendance in the 6 home games so far that has exceeded 3k, so that's quite positive.

Figures updates on the stats post, interesting to note the current average now equals the season final average for 2016.

Thought there was a bigger away support than last week, and it def looked like a bigger attendance overall!

Amazed to hear that low an attendance announced. Recurring theme this season for some reason. Big away crowd I'd expected it to be closer to 4k than 3

I was in the stand and it wasn't full, close to full but top corner area carrick Rd had plenty of free rows.

If you break it down, maybe 1k max in the stand (1,100 seats), 350 away terrace, 250 front of stand, 300 on open seating town side of stand, maybe 100 behind goal, all of this = 2k.

This leaves the rest to be on the shedside, not sure what was in there but there were gaps at each end.

The crowd did look similar to the Bohs game, but the figure reported on Friday was just over 200 below, but there is no advantage to the club for reporting a lower attendance than actual one, there is no VAT etc to be taken into account.

Bohs are obviously a bigger draw and they also take a larger support with them.

Remember too about the live tv and earlier kick off time, sometimes live on tv can boost a crowd but only for certain games and weather permitting.

We have a quite a number of Dub (and other areas) based fans, if some had travelled for the Bohs game 7 days earlier, it would be perfectly reasonable some would not make the trip up and watch this one on tv.

A crowd of 3,191 announced tonight, this is the 4th home league game from 7 that we have exceeded 3k, attendances are starting to settle in around this figure.

Overall figures updated on the stats post.
