Sligo match last Friday, official attendance was 2,134, figures updated on the stats page.

Next up is Waterford at home, on a Monday, probably be looking at something similar, then Bray at home the following Friday, pity they are not vice versa for crowd pullers.

Next big game to get a big crowd really and over 3k is Cork, Friday 29th June, the one after the break.

2,041 last night v Waterford, figures updated on stats page.

I’ve seen comments on the Waterford game thread about poor turn out, I wasn’t expecting too much more. There has been a huge amount of games, plus 400 possibly more went to Dalymount on Friday, and then you can reduce it by maybe 1,000 given this was a Monday, school night etc.

The gesture by the club offering reductions for the next game or game after is very good and should help boost the next few crowds, plus once we go back to Fridays and not so frequent games they should pick up.

I applaud the initiative by the club, but I suspect that the difference on numbers will be modest - although the bring-a-mate season ticket holder promo might bring out some extra folk, even if many of the free tickets are passed to existing pay-at-the-gate supporters rather than new ones. Undoubtedly it shows an appreciation of the support from fans and is a worthwhile gesture of thanks.

1,877 tonight v Bray which is the second lowest official crowd figure released so far. The lowest was the Limerick game in the snow, but that was a Tuesday night.

This was disappointing for a Friday.

Hey wife/partner/other
''I'm going out to Oriel tonight for the game and then meeting the lads in the pub for the Champions League final tomorrow night''
''I know we played Monday night''
''I know I was in Dalymount last Friday night, but its one of my favourite away trips''
''I know you're just home from work and you haven't voted yet''
''I know its the warmest day of the year and the kids want to do something''
''but...but...but''

1800 odd..
Do we deserve this team or is it a case of saturation?

Would playing Galway, Athlone or Finn Harps have attracted more if it was a 12 team league?
Is the 10 team league supposed to mean better attendances or better football?

Reality check

Embarrassing official attendance if accurate

For you it comes first. Congrats on being a super hard core ultra fan.
For others there are competing activities.
Bray U-19s wasn't attractive for a lot of people given the recent run of games and other factors this weekend

This is a seminal moment in our history, fantastic team, manager, full time pro and new owners. Our crowds have dropped a thousand from earlier in the season when weather was poor. We are on the cusp of being ready for success in early rounds of Europe and moving up to the next level, continued success and better facilities. It is only going to happen with commercial success and bigger crowds for every game. We all need to be evangelists and get people to Oriel. If you know someone who has dropped off encourage them to go. Bring the kids and see if they like it. This is our chance, this is our time. Dermot Keely said as he was coming over Hill St bridge with the cup in 81 that the fans did not care as much as 79 and it was a reason why he left. We can’t make the same mistakes. We need to savor this moment. We should be getting 4K a game, the team is that good and it will help us keep them playing with us. Spread the word
