There is no doubt that some of the attendance figures have been under-reported. The only aspect that is not clear is why this is so.

It seems implausible that it is a series of ongoing unintentional errors.

No idea, but last nights reported figure was one of the strangest so far. For Bohs at home end of July, Sunday night match, a fig of just over 3k was reported, which was a decent crowd.

Last night looked more that that figure.

When Mike is acknowledging that the figures are dodgy, you know all hope is lost.

Years of statistical analysis and comparisons gone up the tube

Exactly Ezeikial, this is indeed an alarming development.

Currently awaiting advices / direction from the CSO before updating the stats page on this.

Probably nobody is paying attention anymore to the official attendance figures - I think somebody is just have a laugh to see how far they can stretch credibility

The latest craic is that there was only 250 more at last Tuesdays league match against Derry as compared with the official attendance against UCD ( 2926 for UCD match and 3176 against Derry)

And for even more craic, figures updated now on page 2 or so, where I have the stats.

The attendance given for the Cup Semi in Turners Cross last night was 4100 with 700 Bohs fans. For our League match it was 4350 with 500 of us. The night of our game looked like there were far more empty seats.

So essentially it looks like Cork start with all season ticket holders as a baseline attendance figure, then ticket sales on top. In other words their attendances are probably usually a few hundred less than stated unless all season ticket holders show up.

The reason I mention it is that I have a suspicion that we do that sometimes, but not all the time, hence our attendance figures not always making a lot of sense. There was 2926 at the Cup Semi. Given that there's no season tickets and it's counted by both clubs and the FAI, it's accurate. So basically when trying to estimate it that's what 2,900 home fans in Oriel looks like.
