Derry City V Dundalk | Fri 2 Mar | 7.45pm | Brandywell

Postby Ezeikial » Wed Feb 28, 2018 11:59 am

I really hope that this match can go ahead with Dundalk in a position to build on the Limerick performance and result.

Derry have had a poor start to the league, but it is likely that they will improve as their season progresses - now is the time to play them!

The FAI say they are monitoring the situation for all matches this weekend and are likely to issue a statement tomorrow morning - based on weather forecasts it looks unlikely!

Kenny Shiels really is entertaining and a whinge-bag at the same time!

We also claims that Bohs players were diving all over the place and that the crowd refereed the match in their 1-0 smash and grab win last night!

I don't expect a rush on these tickets just yet

Ahead of Friday’s planned opening fixture at the Brandywell, Derry City have announced that Dundalk supporters should purchase tickets online prior to travel to the game.

Some tickets will be on sale on match night to Dundalk FC fans but we strongly encourage away fans to purchase online in advance as we are expected to be extremely busy.

Dundalk fans will be accommodated in Sections A & B of the Southend Stand.

Monday March 19th is a Bank holiday so that will actually suit a lot of people nicely.

With the Derry match re-arranged for St Patricks weekend, it means 6 Games in 22 days in March starting with the big one against Cork. At least its similar schedule for every team and our large squad could work to our benefit as fitness issues seem to be easing:

Fri 09 Mar - Cork City (H)
Mon 12 Mar - St Pats (A)
Fri 16 Mar - Waterford (H)
Mon 19 Mar - Derry City (A)
Sat 24 Mar - Sligo Rovers (A)
Fri 30 Mar - Bohs (H)

Nothing much else to do today so thought I’d pose this question. When Garts and Hoare are fit , who do you reckon will be first choice pairing at CB. Clearly really has impressed me. Hoare and Folan are both left footers. Folan knows where the goal is for set pieces. I don’t think SK will play Garts and Cleary together as both are right footed

I think he will go with Gartland and Folan. Their goal threat from set pieces will edge them ahead of Cleary and Hoare, in my opinion. Close call though, a great problem to have.

Speculating, but I think Cleary will be our no.1 centre half by the end of the season. SK may play Garts beside him, as he is the most experienced.

I think I read that the new fixture date falls on Ryan McBride's anniversary. Motions will be high on this evening and could lead to a very unknown Derry taking to the field.

I think you are correct about Cleary but two right footers could leave it unbalanced. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Gays play as LCB. Maybe Cleary has
