Not bad. If you are early you can part on Emmet Road. If not, there is plenty of parking in the residential areas around Bulfin Road.

Hoban and Dundalk aiming to maintain recent momentum
In-form striker will bid to add to his goals tally against St Patrick’s Athletic at Inchicore

Stephen Kenny is again without John Mountney for the trip to St Pat’s in Inchicore on Monday evening but Dundalk look to be in pretty good shape just now even without the midfielder.

The two goalless draws with which they opened the campaign seem a distant memory after an 8-0 trouncing of Limerick and Friday’s convincing defeat of champions and great rivals Cork.

“We haven’t done a lot wrong this season,” says Kenny, whose side would have been seven points off the pace had they lost to City. “We’ve played well, and probably those two games we drew, we should have won.

“It [the win over Cork] is just one win in isolation,” he says however. “That’s what I said to the players straight away afterwards. We have a tough game now against St Pat’s. They have done alright, they have six points already and they have an experienced team so we are going to have to be focused.

Pat Hoban getting back amongst the goals with three in the last two games will have gone a long way to increase confidence levels, both for the striker himself and the side generally.

He and his team-mates passed up a fair few chances on Friday but the 26- year-old says that he is feeling good again around the opposition goal and that the strength of Dundalk’s squad is beginning to shine through. For the Galwayman, it is a welcome return to form after a difficult end to his time in England.

“I wanted to prove myself in England because in my eyes I am definitely good enough,” he says, “But I had a very frustrating year in terms of not playing, injuries, little niggles, it was a very frustrating year for me.

“I was doing well before January, I know I’m going back a long way here, but at Mansfield a new manager comes in and that’s just the way it is, the way football is over there, it’s just really ruthless. You get into a mindset then and think, ‘this guy is never going to play me,’ and your confidence goes. And my confidence did go.

Tough tests
“I’m not going to lie, it’s very hard. But I’m lucky to be playing here now under Stephen Kenny. When you are at home, even if things weren’t going so well, you always have family you can turn to, but I’m getting sharper every week and we have a great squad here... we played 11 v 11 last Tuesday and you literally could not tell between the two sides, both playing the same style of football it was very, very good.”

They face a couple more tough tests this week with St Patrick’s this evening following by Waterford on Friday but they certainly have momentum behind them now as they go into Monday’s game.

Guessing tonight's starting line-up is probably a total waste of time, as SK could make no changes or change half the team with an eye on 2 more matches in the week ahead. But here goes - O'Donnell and Chvedukas in for Shields and Benson:

------------------Rogers-------------------
Gannon---Cleary---Hoare---Massey---
-------O'Donnell-------Chvedukas------
McGrath--------Murray----------Duffy--
------------------Hoban-------------------

Dylan Connolly. Useless. Only getting a game because Kenny paid 40k for him.

Every Dundalk fan with even a modicum of vision can see that Connolly is not a footballer, he can't fcuking
play, there's no if's, but's or maybe's about it, HE CAN'T PLAY! Makes me wonder who exactly is picking
the team because surely to Jaysus Kenny can see the same as the rest of us that this lad is total dog shit.
Rant over! ermm! just like our title hopes if we keep playing like this.

Funny use of subs tonight - Connolly shields and benson were terrible so why Murray and Hoban were hauled off I don’t know... Hoban has to of scored his early chance would have been an easy night .

Kenny went back to the formation the served him well over the last five years. Two wingers and a number 10 in front of a midfield two.

The problem is we don't have the right personnel for it.

Hoban doesn't offer the movement McMillan did. Murray doesn't have the pace go past players like Finn or McEleney, and Connolly is too easily marked out of the game.

On Friday night, we played to the strengths of this group of players and won comfortably.

Tonight was back to the Bray and Rovers performances.

Undid some of our good work on Friday night. Flat performance, flat atmosphere. Dylan Connollys performances are now affecting Gannon, who is afraid to overlap and get down the line, because he knows bambi will lose possession.
Benson had zero effect on the game. Shields was OK but his passing just let's him down too often.
Subs were brought on too late. Should have been done at the hour mark.
5th clean sheet in a row is the only positive.

Connolly will get deserved slagging but Benson is doing nothing for us in the middle. McGrath very unlucky to be dropped. Duffy back to being a bit lightweight too.

A lot of below par performances tonight. If Hoban or Murray had scored with either of their big chances in the first half we may well have run out easy winners.

Pats were solid and well organised and were set up to defend the point they started with.

What really baffles me is that it was obvious at an early point in the 2nd half that the system/formation was not working and as time went on we became less likely to get the crucial goal. Why wait so long to try to change things? Adorjan at 71 mins, Marco at 74 mins and especially Chvedukas at 82 mins had too little time.

I found watching the teams performance very frustrating, perhaps only matched by having to listen to the negativity of a vocal number of the travelling supporters
