Gary Rogers looking for clean sheet no 56 in his 100th league appearance for Dundalk

Should he line out against Cork City as expected, then it will be the 36-year-old’s 100th league appearance for Dundalk since joining from Sligo Rovers at the start of the 2015 season.

For all those who knock him, take a look at that stat. It is a phenomenal record to have 56 clean sheets in 100 league games.

Interesting observation from James Rogers, that is hard to argue with.

Apart the 1st goal in Waterford, Gary Rogers has been in excellent form this season

@jamesdundalk

No disrespect to Shane Supple whatsoever, delighted for him and he's top class etc but if you were at Bohs-Dundalk on Friday to look at a keeper then you've just called up the man who gave the least impressive showing of the two on the pitch that night.

James Rogers is some boy for the Stats

Tonight was @1garyrogers' 13th clean sheet of the season in 18 games. That equalled the number he managed in 29 league matches in 2016.

I still think it was an awful insult to Gary not to give him 10 minutes and a cap against Oman that time when he gave O'Neill great service when requested while juggling hefty Dundalk commitments. He's been very good again this season

Completely agree with this, there was absolutely nothing at stake in that game either, plus he is unlikely to ever get the call again.

I see from the excellent European Competition media guide, published by the FAI, that Gary Rogers is within reach of being the record holder for most European appearances.

Current Top 10 Standings
41 Ollie Cahill
37 Owen Heary
37 Dan Murray
36 Stuart Byrne
35 Gary Rogers
33 Ronan Finn
32 Mick Smyth
29 Glen Crowe
27 Johnny Fullam
27 David McMillan

Selected Others
26 Stephen O'Donnell
26 Alan Bennett
23 Ciaran Kilduff
23 Tommy McConville
22 Richie Blackmore
21 Turlough O'Connor

Neil O'Riordan is clearly a very keen reader of this forum (ok maybe he just read the FAI Media Guide on European competitions)

OLLIE POP Dundalk keeper Gary Rogers chasing Ollie Cahill’s European appearance record for League of Ireland players
Rogers, 36, has played 37 times in Europe and is five appearances away from breaking Cahill's record

Surely then if he keeps his place in the team he'll smash that record before he even reaches the group stages this year :-)

He should equal the record in the 2nd leg against Ajax or Graz and then set a new record in the following round!!!!!

If that is from June, then he is higher after the 2 games against levadia, so only 4 away??

Yes, that seems right that he is currently 4 away from equaling the record

According to the FAI media guide he was on 35 appearances before Levedia so now he is on 37.

If he plays home and away against Larnaca that will take him to 39 and only 2 appearances off Ollie Cahills record of 41

Its like an old episode of Rainbow here, explaining something over and over!!!

All joking aside, its an incredible achievement for any LOI player to hit that amount of European matches. I suspect Ollie Cahills record will be passed by a few DFC players in the coming years. All going well of course.
