Not a good performance, but a vital win, just great to get that late goal in the end, Sligo worked very hard and will be very disappointed not have got a point.

These were exactly the type of games though that Cork were winning ugly last year, in the second half of the season so we'll take the points and move on.

Massey definitely made a big difference and not just his match winning cross, but we have to look at all of the changes and players who are out, including the best right full in the league and one of the best central midfielders also. Look at the wholesale changes in defence alone, all 4 central defenders have played in the last few weeks and we ended with the start of season second choice left full playing also in the centre. Haven't even mentioned the two foreign lads and moutney, but at least Adjoran and Mountney are looking like they will join the ranks soon.

Connolly did well, he obviously is not fully up to the level we want, but that was much more like it last night and good for him for battling through a tough old period.

All things said, we are in a nice position, haven't really clicked into real form yet, but only one point behind and chance to go 2 clear on Monday. I think most have to be happy with this.

SK has a system and sticks rigidly to it. Sometimes it has been hard to see how certain signings are meant to fit that system but now with so many injuries you have to wonder if playing lads out of position to stick with the 4-2-3-1 is good for us.

Our results last year without Gannon were terrible and they’ve been a bit dicey this time too. Maybe it’s time to change things to suit the players in form? 3-4-1-2 perhaps with Duffy in behind a front 2 and McGrath alongside Shields with Benson and Jarvis pushed wider so all 4 can press high?
