As much as I’m looking forward to tomorrow, the thoughts of traveling back down the M1 empty handed tomorrow night is making me feel sick!! I was abroad for the 2015 final so I haven’t seen us lift the cup since 2002. 16 years is too long, I hope to be standing on Hill Street Bridge tomorrow night cheering this brilliant squad home!!!

Some pretty strange comments from Karl Sheppard taking about hatred and grudges between players and a dislike between fans.

He is both projecting and guaging the level of hatred between supporters on what he experiences in Cork. I dont see hatred among Dundalk fans for Cork supporters. Rolled eyes at their school yard name calling and a wry smile at their desperation for wider credit and acceptance. Other than that its a bit meh tbh!

Of course you don't..... No history of your fans attacking ours. Take your head and arse out of the sand.

You now project yourself also!

At least I've brought a bit of life to the place the last few days. Enjoy the day and the game lads. Safe journey both ways.

Here's to a good game tomorrow lads. Weather forecast is good (13 degrees I think and no rain).
Thankfully there seems to be a decent enough relationship between the two sets of fans; at the game down in the cross a few weeks ago it was great to see both sets of supporters mingling in the Turners cross Tavern with no hint of trouble.
Might see ye in the Lansdowne Bar :)

Thank you Leesider. That Friday evening pre match in the local pubs was very pleasant. Pity some of the previews have been using the word ‘hatred’

I've been a bit busy during the week so I haven't read a lot of the previews but if that word has been used then that's a bit sad by whoever was saying it.

I think I read that the RTÉ player is doing a worldwide stream for the match.

Nice one Tigger, Leesider, & Ezikiel. I suppose a bit of back and forth is all part of the fun but when it comes down to it we are all seen as wing nuts by the majority of the rest of the country for following LOI. There is more that unites us than separates us in that regard. One of us will be disappointed tomorrow night but sure what's new. Football, bloody hell!

Another excellent Caoimhin Reilly article in the Demo

Dundalk FC manager Stephen Kenny stands on the verge of greatness ahead of Sunday's FAI Cup final

Stephen Kenny stands on the verge of greatness. His eighth FAI Cup final as a manager, victory over Cork City on Sunday would see the Dundalk FC supremo on to eight major honours at the club, and level with Jim McLaughlin’s record haul.

It would, perhaps, be the sweetest triumph as just the fourth double in the club’s history looms large, as well as the fact that it comes in the aftermath of his first major rebuild job. As many as 10 of the players he recruited since winning the title in 2016 claimed their first league medals recently.

Kenny turned 47 on Tuesday and is at the end of his sixth season at the club, yet he continues to build an unparalleled dynasty. Has any other manager achieved what he has so consistently over such a concerted period of time? It’s doubtful, and, for challengers, the frightening part is that his medal hungry crusade remains all consuming.

Poor first half from us until last few mins. Cork high press very effective. Annoying to shoot outselves in the foot again. Rogers should have saved penalty. Mountney and Massey very poor, Benson and McEleney not in it.

We were watching different games I think.

Benson looked the freshest he's been for us in a long time. Gartland was immense at the back, the whole game actually and how he didn't get man of the match was a strange one. I thought defensively we looked solid the whole first half and game.

McElhaney was on a lot of the ball to be fair but yes there was a lack of clinicalness (not a word) from his passing. We were head and shoulders above cork footballing wise but it just felt they could do one on us again the longer it stayed 1-1.

A deserved double I think.

Correct decision by the FAI to cancel all school boy and junior matches. Also, it was nice of the weather not to be freezing or pissin down out of the heavens. All contributing to 30k plus crowd.
