Apparently Dummigan not training and supposed to be off. Will be poor business if he’s let go for less than we were offered in the summer, given he’s contracted for the season. Maybe Gannon will be the one to have his leg broken in the first match of the season.

I thought that I saw dummigan in the pictures of the squad at training.

James Rogers responding to being asked this question on twitter -

Is Cameron Dummigan training with the team? It seems his future is a bit uncertain now.
James Rogers
@jamesdundalk

No, it's likely he'll be on his way this month

Of course all we have to go on about the offer in the summer are tweets from England!

Cryptic "many reasons" comment from VP
James Rogers
@jamesdundalk
Vinny Perth on Taner Dogan: "He has all the attributes to be a really good footballer. He's someone who we're letting watch us and we will watch him. He will be with us for the next week or two. There's many reasons for him being here and I'm very happy to have him around."

Other than potentially getting a contract, what could they be?

It wouldn’t surprise me if the owners have asked VP to take a look at these lads. It could become an annual thing. Maybe something comes of it maybe not, no harm no foul as far as I can see

Wonder if these young American lads or as Vinny said last night friends of Dundalk FC are the first attempt to pick college football in the states of its better players, using Peak6 contacts over the water. Harvard would surely be an employment channel for them, now they can also offer an alternaltive to the sports graduates. Come to Ireland, play in Europe and use us to make the next move.......

Loved James from Argus tweet last night, from the 6 contenders for Sept 2018 Airtricity Player of the Month, 5 played last night.

Leahy (Bohs), Sloggett (UCD), Dan Kelly (Bohs) Shields, Gartland, the only exception being Puri (Waterford)

VP about adding to the squad
'We've got to bring in one or two players...' - Dundalk FC manager Vinny Perth

Vinny Perth is hopeful of adding to his squad from outside the Irish market ahead of the new season.

Dundalk have recruited three players over the winter, with Darragh Leahy, Greg Sloggett and Will Patching joining from Bohemians, Derry City and Notts County respectively.

American midfielder Taner Dogan got game-time in Friday’s pre-season win over UCD and, speaking afterwards, Perth confirmed his trial period will continue.

The Lilywhites manager has previously spoken of his desire to add “the icing on the cake” in terms of a quality signing, but says any such addition is likely to come from abroad given the lack of viable options in the domestic market.

“I believe we’ve got European players at the club, but we’ve got to bring in one or two players of a different sort of background and belief to try and inspire the squad,” Perth told RTÉ 2FM's Game On.

“They’re not necessarily going to be better players, but somebody from a different background, in terms of upbringing, whether it’s in Croatia, Montenegro or Slovakia.

“Maybe their insight and vision might help us and give us a little edge. That’s sort of my angle for the last one or two players in the squad.

“As it currently stands, I don’t see anyone available in Ireland that we could sign to improve us.

“There are players in Ireland that if we could get, could improve us, but I don’t see anyone available and therefore we’re taking a bit of a risk of going outside the Irish market for the final piece of the jigsaw.”

Maybe this is Vinnie speak for saluting the quality of his current squad, but surely a new signing should only come in if he improves the squad
