Probably Rogers' best season for us, happy to see him signed up for another year.

To be fair apart from the mid season blip in 2016, Gary has been an excellent goalkeeper for us amd am very happy he is here for another season.

It is an excellent move to tie up a new contract to end of season 2019. Updated on opening thread

Speaking to dundalkfc.com after putting pen-to-paper on a fresh one year deal, he was understandable pleased to sign on again for 2019.

The 37 year-old has been in fine form this season and has 28 clean sheets so far in 2018.

exactly right. Still a bit prone to the odd daft mix up with his central defenders, but generally he's excellent.

It was the same when alan o'neill replaced fan favourite Ritchie Blackmore. Took a long time for fans to warm to O'Neill. Same when Rogers replaced Peter Cherrie. Imho Rogers is a better keeper than Cherrie and commands his box a whole lot more than Cherrie did. And on the plus side he isn't terrified of crosses either.

Gary Rogers' record speaks for itself - both during his time in Oriel and in his wider LOI career - in terms of clean sheets, goals conceded. appearance record etc along with an impressive haul of honours.

While most would regard Gary Rogers as being a better all-round keeper than Peter Cherrie, it is also a valid observation that he still has weaknesses - he can be poor in terms of communication with his defenders and being indecisive about commanding his box, while also being guilty of the occasional total mess-ups like in Alkmaar

What happened in Alkmaar I think really effected him and impacted on his decision making in to the 2017 season. This season he has been less indecisive imo and has clattered a few players in the process clearing man and ball. The (very) few soft goals we have conceded this season like v Rovers after a few mins there seemed to have been a collective switching off by players. If there was an area for Rogers to still improve as a player of such age and experience it is seeing when players around him have switched off and to start roaring.
