Cork City V Dundalk | Fri 21 Sept | 7.15pm | Turner's Cross

Postby Ezeikial » Sat Sep 08, 2018 10:40 am

While the result of the Bohs V Cork match next weekend will have a bearing on the league title run-in and the previews of the match itself, the reality of it is that we only need to be focused on our own performances and results.

Even if our performance have been patchy since the match in Larnaca it seems that a vein of form has been re-discovered at the right time and 4-0 cup victory in Limerick is likely to give a boost to confidence.

It seems that the match is likely to be on TV (hence the 7.15 kick-off - has TV been confirmed?) there is likely to be a big travelling contingent looking to support and witness a crucial victory over our nearest rivals. Although a draw is perfectly acceptable, I don't envisage Stephen Kenny or his players setting out with that mindset

The fact that a draw is of little of no benefit to Cork and the growing discontent among Cork supporters may influence Caulfield's approach to the match. Maybe a leopard can't change his spots? it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

My hunch is that, with the right attitude, and if Lady Luck does not conspire against us, we can be celebrating a firm grip on the league trophy a little after 9pm on 21 September

I'm positive I've seen that it's live on TV (RTE I'm sure) but I'm having trouble finding the link. The coverage was the reason for bringing the kick off forward.

Will the club be selling tickets for this? Will it be season ticket holders first or pay at the gate on the night? Hotel booked. Can't wait foe this game to come around. Big task but avoid defeat and wr have 1 hand on the trophy. Cork win and it could be level with us having a game in hand against Derry in Oriel on the following Tuesday night.

I have absolutely no doubt that it will be screened live and hence the change of kick off time to 7.15pm

I can't find the confirmation on their social media or reported elsewhere

Could be all but over even before you come down. Bohs never make it easy for us. Interesting to note our player Shep make a comment before last night's game, that due to the criticism leveled at them last week that they were going to go out and enjoy their football. Which they did in fairness. Some outstanding displays last night. Also noting that Caulfield spent much of the game sitting down. Dundalk had a very good win as well in fairness. Looking forward to this game. Anybody for pints in the TCT beforehand.

As I’ve said on previous threads I don’t enjoy these games. Same with this one - I’ll be glad when it’s over.

As usual I think we should do something different, but I suspect we won’t. I’d like to see us go 4-3-3 with Mountney on the right of the midfield 3 and McGrath and Duffy either side of Hoban. McEleney isn’t up to the pace of these games yet and playing Connolly would be a mistake. We need to press them hard in midfield.

Agree with El Paso,s last comment. Two things that I hope will not impact adversely on us _ the referee and the short turnaround to the Bohs match 4 days later, esp if we lost as we could have a hang over like with Limerick

I assume you mean Derry(H) on 25th? Their schedule is:

Sat 15/9 EA Sports Cup Final v Cobh Ramblers
Wed 19/9 FAI Cup QF v Bohs
Sat 22/9 League v Shamrock Rovers (or QF replay)
Tue 25/9 League v Dundalk(A)

By the time they play us they will be fairly wrecked. It's also the week of the Cup SF(playing Sunday) so if Derry get through I would expect Kenny Shiels to rest some players.

Rogers
Gannon | Gartland | Hoare | Massey
Shields | Benson
Mountney | McGrath | Duffy
Hoban

That line up easily translates into the tactical 4-3-3 you suggest. But you know it's not going to happen

Going to be high demand for these. Massive massive game. We could be level on points at 9.15 pm or 9 points ahead (and a few other permutations)

Any rumour of a friendly lined up for this weekend?
