Retro Jersey

Postby shedboy4life » Fri Oct 05, 2018 4:33 pm

Anyone have any information on this? It’s taken Dundalk social media by storm this morning but no one seems to have any information about it. Would love one for the final.

If it wasnt for the CX+ I would have assumed it was an '88 era jersey, Its a nice one for sure!

I'm all for retro jerseys but i am probably in the minority but i don't really like this one. The original yes, but this modern take on it No.

For me the only real retro jersey left to do is the Harp one with the shoulder flashes.

It’s pretty much a carbon copy!

It was a one off according to Gavin. There are no plans as of yet to mass produce it.

Friend of a friend at cx+ says they’re considering a run of them based on reaction. I’d imagine sponsorship issues might cause a problem. Not exactly fair on Fyffes.

But I’d still buy it if they had to modify it. Vastly preferable to that mess of a home jersey.

I know that Liverpool have Candy on their retro stuff. As far as I’m aware there are no sponsorship issues with retro gear.

Also not sure what the fuss is all about with this, quite a plan top for me, and never liked the black crest, changing it to red was a good idea around early 90's.

I think with the Pats league winning game from 88 doing the rounds this week, it got extra exposure.

We had far better tops than this one back in the day. The 1982 one was a nice design, micro thin stripes but in a hoop fashion.

Have been thinking about this and would love a version of the away kit we won the 1991 title in as an away kit. The Fyffes blue logo would go well, maybe the crest done in white with black marlets for contrast, or blue with white marlets to match the sponsor

That photo is from Turners Cross, (you can even make out the church behind the, ‘yet to be built’ Derrynane stand) it was the last game of 1990/91 season, Cork had to draw, we had to win, step forward Tom McNulty. Title no 8.

Smart kit, but i preferred the all red we wore under Foster in 2010, by Umbro I think.
