Re: Retro Jersey
Its very like the Liverpool 'Candy' jersey of similar era so I can see why some fans might like it :p I liked the half and half black and white Blackburn style jersey I think the 93-94 season but I dont think it was too popular at the time. You cant really go too wrong with the plain all white with the black trim or pinstripe and the all black away kit. Not retro enough yet and maybe it was the day that was in it but the most striking Dundalk kit imo was the all white 2002 cup final strip. I did like the all red one Mike mentions. If there is to be a new kit launched I hope CX+ dont get too fussy with the design, Im still not sure about the current home jersey with the stripes!

Re: Retro Jersey
I hated that cup final shirt! Stupid random stripes, three below and one above the sponsor. Looked crap! It’s why i hate both of this years shirts too.
Plain colours with subtle trims, or symmetrical accents.
Jim Murphy’s book has graphics of all our historical shirts. Most of the 70s and 80s ones were far better than the 90s and 00s. The white umbro Euro special is my favourite

Agreed - it was a terrible shirt. As was the majority of the O'Neills efforts.El Paso wrote:I hated that cup final shirt! Stupid random stripes, three below and one above the sponsor. Looked crap!

Re: Retro Jersey
Not so much a retro jersey by Bohs per se but an interesting and imaginative way to draw some curiosity to the club from outside of Irish sporting circles. The Shed lads and Bohs fans can join together singing Three Little Birds when Bohs visit Oriel Park next season!

Re: Retro Jersey
I’ll be the pedant and point out they can’t wear that in Oriel!
Laughed my ass off when I saw it, but it could sell loads. The design is swing and a miss, though. Putting a red and black crest on top of the colour stripes is a dumb move. Also the sponsor takes away from it. Should have moved it to the back.

Re: Retro Jersey
This will make little material difference here but I was wondering about the image rights (must have read something about the issue ages ago) and this is top of the search -

Im sure O'Neills would be well on the ball!!.....
The sponsor does looks like a stencil slipped during printing.

Re: Retro Jersey
I honestly thought this was a t shirt when I saw it first. Are they honestly going to go with that? Would they not have image rights issues.
Looks a top t-shirt/polo. Official jersey. Not for me.

Re: Retro Jersey
Mike was right. They screwed up buying the image rights. Replaced by a raised fist, which Shamrock fans seem to think is ubiquitous to them.

Re: Retro Jersey
They took the image of your Shutterstock apparently. Plenty of free images out there of Marley but it's how you use these images. Stinger for them

Re: Retro Jersey
I'd like to think they knew this all along and it was all a publicity ploy. Very basic error and one of the first things that people were saying was that the Marley estate were particularly fussy on his image rights. If an average fan was asking the question how on earth did Bohs and O'Neills not check it out properly beforehand. It might be a piece of luck that O'Neills are so slow with delivering orders or there could have been a large batch of shirts done that would be for the bin.

Re: Retro Jersey
Can't understand why they wouldnt have done all their checks first, this is a big mess now for them, seemingly they have 'sold' over 1k, now most will look for their money back.El Paso wrote:Mike was right. Re: Retro Jersey
Seen Barry Keoghs wife wearing the CX retro jersey during the presentation at half time. Would love to get my hands on one.

I'm sure I saw someone behind the north stand in one before the game too, wasn't Adrien Kehoe, there must be a few about?Towelie wrote:Seen Barry Keoghs wife wearing the CX retro jersey during the presentation at half time. Would love to get my hands on one.
