Leaving it late to refix the Sligo away game pencilled in for Saturday?

I may be wrong, but I think 7 days notice is required. Last nights experiment worked and I think you will see more games in between European legs. The Cobh announcement about the cup game makes me wonder if they know something not yet announced. If we drop to the Europa League, there is no way we could play away Thursday night and then in Cobh on Saturday, unless the team was flying back to Cork instead of Dublin.dundalkfc1903 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 11:52 am Leaving it late to refix the Sligo away game pencilled in for Saturday?

Ok, I'm chancing my arm by putting the half time score from Turners Cross here (Cork 1 up)
I will use the excuse "views on whether the Dundalk v Shamrock Rovers game might be a title decider?"

That's a superb result from Turners Cross. I really didn't think Cork would get anything from that game. I watched the last 20 mins or so and it looked like Cork were never under huge pressure in that time. Rovers' lack of a decent striker and strength in depth is their downfall this season and you'd wonder how long they will stick with Bradley. Perhaps a cup win will save him because, at the risk of ending up with egg on my face, I think their title challenge ended today.

Its really hard to see how Rovers can recover a credible title challenge. In the improbable event that they won 9 and drew 1 of their remaining 10 league games they would have 80 points. That's a total that we should surpass in relative comfort, even if our form dipped

We won it in Tallaght, I think, but it was sealed today. They’ve 9 points from 21, that’s not going to turn into 26 or 28 from 30.
Bored of the excuses too - last year the keeper, this year the strikers. Fact is they’re ordinary in most positions.

I’d start rotating in McCarey, Lotefa, Hand and Folan to make sure they get medals tbh

Sligo game postponed. Disappointed, don’t think we need to.

The EA Sports semi final also falls along with the Sligo game
I wonder how this potentially impacts on EA Sports cup final date and the Shamrock Rovers league match also scheduled for the same weekend?

I think the cup game with cobh could very well be pushed to the Sunday.

Re: 2019 Season - Preview, Fixtures & Attendances
Sligo is a bit of a special case- it's a long distance away game in between away games in Azerbaijan and probably Cyprus/Slovakia. I'm not a big fan of postponing so many games but very hard to manage that one logistically..
With a big margin in the league we can focus on Europe. Arguably we should be focusing on mopping up the cups too.

EA Sports Cup SF & Final
FAI Cup R1, R2, & QF
CL/EL R3 x 2 legs plus probably R4 x 2 legs
all in the period between 5th August and 14 September. Throw in Rovers potential advancement to EL R3 and our scheduled need to use Tallaght the same week/night as them, and it becomes a real mess. All our travel dates - and peripheral domestic fixtures - are subject to change until the sequence in R3 is settled.
To be rearranged.

Re: 2019 Season - Preview, Fixtures & Attendances
That's a lot of games to fit in. Thankfully it looks like the pressure is off the league, so playing twice a week in Sep/Oct should be manageable. Surely the only rearrangement for Cobh would be a shift to Sunday (or Monday) if we lose to Qarabag and then have to play on Thursday 8th in the EL. Likewise Harps. It's moderately likely we'll have European games on Aug 20/21/22 and Aug 27/28/29 too which would really ramp up the pressure.

Re: 2019 Season - Preview, Fixtures & Attendances
If we lose to Qarabag our home leg in EL is scheduled for Thursday 15th Aug. If Rovers advance to R3, their home leg is the same night. Our home leg could be moved to Tuesday, which means playing Thursday/Tuesday with a long away trip in between. Or they might reverse the legs. Anyone with flights booked could get stung.seand wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 10:04 am That's a lot of games to fit in.
