At the moment - and there's a long way to go - we're still the strongest side; but Rovers and Pats look stronger. Bohs, Cork and Derry look weaker. Waterford and Sligo more or less the same. UCD and Finn Harps will both be stronger than Bray and Limerick.

Rovers look like being our big challengers. I'd worry about the quality of the midfield they can put on the pitch, it will overpower most teams, potentially ours too.

With pre-season due to start (officially) in two weeks, and the President's Cup on the weekend of the 9/10th, it looks like we could be back in OP for friendlies before the end of January. Happy Days.

Hopefully our new management team have a few new players in mind as this doesn’t leave much time to get them in.

It's ridiculous, the league winners should always host this game if its not in a neutral venue.

I agree, though we did host it at the beginning of the season just gone despite winning neither trophy last year and Cork hosted it the two years before that even though we were league champions. FAI logic don’t you know.....

At the moment it is alternating between the two clubs as it's always us and them. I have a feeling the double for Cork related to Oriel being relaid one the years.

I've no problems with the match being played in TC, ok we are league champions / double winners but we hosted it last year, its not a big deal really. Its a warm up match, end of.

More importantly is what shape we are in, as I've said a few times before all 14 who featured in the cup final are signed back for 2019, and 3 from memory are in for 2020, Gannon, Duffy and McEleney, actually is the latter signed up to 2021? This list doesnt even include those who didnt come off the bench or who weren't on the bench like Kelly & Connolly, then the injured duo of O'Donnell and Chevedukas, but the former is out of contact, I'd def give him one year, he's worth the risk, big influence on the squad.

So overall, we are in excellent shape player wise, and we will start as firm favourites.

Great to hear about that sort of investment.

Excellent interviews - it is good to get the views of the management trio. Well done Gavin!

Great interviews, really enjoyed them. It sounds, to me anyway, that Stephen O'Donnells playing days are numbered and the club are looking to give him some kind of role within the club. Hopefully if he is finished playing that this is the case. He definitely has management potential and would be a huge asset to have around the place.
