Cup match v Derry is next Friday 23rd. UCD game is refixed for Monday 26th (huge crowd at that I’d say!) and we’re away to UCD following Friday.

Great chance to get 9 more points on the board in a short space of time and go 10 clear with 8 to play.
A win against Bohs on Monday will most likely see either the Cork(H) or Sligo(A) game refixed for Mon 2 Sep, as the Rovers(H) game on Sep 13 gets added to the list.

UCD sack Collie O'Neill. New manager bounce for the two games against us or a couple of hidings?

They need to have their Premier Division licence revoked permanently after this season - lads not playing matches because of exams, losing graduates in the summer and replacing them with first years is utter nonsense in a national league.

As you predicted, it's Sligo Rovers away now on Monday 2 September

Updated with Sligo refixed for 2nd September. I'd say the dates for the two games to be refixed won't come out until they see how the three clubs get on in the cup.

Plenty of stuff up in the air regarding fixtures, but what we can say is that 21 points from 30 wins the League, regardless of anything Rovers do. If we beat Rovers we only need five wins from the other nine matches, even if Rovers win every other match. However it's likely the Cork game will be played before the Rovers game

So probably the target date would be Rovers on 7th October to seal the title!

Maciej Tarnogrodzki stepped down from the Bray job a few days after the 8-1 thrashing at Oriel Park. Presumably lighting won't strike twice for him at UCD.

On the other hand, Bray did go 3 matches unbeaten when he first took over from Alan Mathews, who had gone on a dismal run of 5 straight defeats

Maciej Tarnogrodzki will take charge of UCD for the rest of the season following Collie O'Neill's departure from The Students on Monday. His first league game will be against Dundalk on Monday at Oriel Park - a ground where he lost 8-1 while caretaker boss of Bray in May 2015.

James Rogers
@jamesdundalk
71 points now from 29 games for Dundalk - one more than after the same number of matches last season.

Not since 2015, when they had 72 points at this stage, have they had a higher total during Vinny Perth's tenure at the club

We also currently have a higher win % than any recent season total at 75.9% and at 2.45 points per match, a higher average points per match

Rovers game has now been rescheduled, and we can win the League that night if we win the Cork and Waterford matches!

That's the run in now. Just two home games in the league in September. Biggest game of the season - either to clinch the title or rub someone's nose in it - is a Monday night.

I'm more than a little concerned that, if we beat Waterford next Monday, there will be no energy left for a Cup semi-final.(worse still, beat them after a replay)

Fri 06 Sep Dundalk v Cork City📲
Mon 09 Sep Waterford v Dundalk Cup QF
Sat 14 Sep Derry City v Dundalk EA Sports Cup Final 🖥 Eir Sport

September 23.......
So we have a 7 point lead at the moment, plus games v Cork (h) and Waterford (a) before that. Win those two and we are guaranteed to have a shot at the title on Sep 23.

Rovers have Pats (h) on Sep 20. When we play each other it'll be the fifth last game of the season for each club. Even if Rovers lose to Pats and we win our two, we'd go into the match 13 clear, so the title will not be sealed before Sep 23.

Understandable concern about the energy levels for the possible cup semi-final - but that must be a near perfect depiction of whats called 'a first world problem'.

The possibly of winning the league at home against Shamrock Rovers is brilliant - could there be a better way of achieving it?

Of course there is a risk that Rovers could be party-poopers by getting a draw and leaving us wait til Derry at home in the next match

It's on a Monday!!?? A f***ing Monday. For a possible title deciding game. The cork game with Daryl's goal was a Monday in 2016?

Brain dead!! Absolutely brain-dead! I'm sure there will be a big crowd, but those of us who travel an hour or more to Oriel every second week are definitely out. Then there are those who play/train in local/underage leagues? Pathetic.
