With his coaching role at DkIT while doing badges he'd be ideal as a community liason along with coaching duties at the club. I'd be a but reluctant to rule him out just yet as being an influential player this season though, such is the character of the chap!

Trying to remember last season but are the saturday games usually at an earlier time?

Planning on a few away trips this year but not sure of the kick off times

The Presidents Cup has a 5.30 kickoff but I would plan on 7.45 for league games. Some of the ko times only get confirmed/changed with a couple of weeks to go.

It sounds, to me anyway, that Stephen O'Donnells playing days are numbered and the club are looking to give him some kind of role within the club. Hopefully if he is finished playing that this is the case. He definitely has management potential and would be a huge asset to have around the place.

Looks like this is happening

I feel a sadness about the fact that Stephen O'Donnell seems set to retire and that we are to loose the benefit of his tremendous skill and tenacity on the pitch along with the considerable on-field influences on his team-mates that he has displayed over the last 6 years

It is a comparatively small consolation that he is likely to take take up a role on the club's backroom staff, but I am very glad that this looks likely to happen

Glad he's staying involved. I admire the efforts to keep as much continuity in place as possible and Skip is a winner. That leg break was an injury too far at his age. Fantastic player for us, though. Heartbeat of the team. Despite doing the Double I still feel we were missing what he brought at his best.

It's probably for another thread, but we urgently need to find a similar player to try to fill this gap. We are currently seriously over-reliant on Chris Shields at No 6

Could a fit Chevdukas be that player?? We haven’t really seen what he’s like so he may not be what we need but as VP said in an interview, you don’t become an international player unless you have something about you!

Good noises on Daniel Kelly in pre-season training

James Rogers
‏@jamesdundalk

Vinny Perth on Daniel Kelly's first week of pre-season training: "He has really settled in well. His touch and ability on the ball has probably surprised a couple of players at how far he is ahead from where they thought he was. He has been a breath of fresh air this week.”

Certainly the right noises too with a new manager putting his own stamp on a side. The praise for Kelly sounds like the complete opposite to Connolly tbh!

Jimmy is not playing football at the minute. He's working full time job in England. Apparently his girlfriend was homesick. Sads we lost and received nothing for, but he did say he wouldn't sign for a club in Ireland. That's not to say if yourselves came knocking offering big money that he would refuse.

Cork will still have a formidable first choice eleven, but their squad strength appears suspect - I think that Rovers are probably better equipped to mount a sustained challenge, despite the obvious management weakness
