Tweet from First for Players football agent Liam Carroll about last nights match. Sean Gannon and Chris Shields appear to be clients.

Is there anything in his claim that fans and media were abusing players and staff?

Visited a very quiet Oriel Park last night. Quite sad to hear fans and local media abuse players and staff that have gave them some of the best years of football in their lives. On a positive note this years @SSEAirtricityLg will be a fantastic battle ⚽️

Local superagent trying to engineer a lucrative transfer for one of his stars... Or local attention seeker bored and exaggerates a couple of throw away remarks at recent football game.
Take your pick.

Well it was quite quiet.....for a while. Michael Duffy would speak to the contrary of this

Spoke to John Gill after the game on Monday night. Confirmed that Brian Gartland was rested and that Sean Murray was taken off with a niggle.

Bullshit
Massive exaggeration, but there was a bit of booing at half time, which I thought was a bit unnecessary

There was a wee bit of booing in the shed at half time but only from one or two people, lasted about 2 seconds and sounded a bit tongue in cheek to me.

I saw that tweet and some of his feed and that guy strikes me as being someone with pretty inflated notions of himself. After all being a bullshitter is probably the primary skill of the average football agent. Next step will be to tell his clients that they’re not appreciated at Oriel and try to unsettle them to look for a move.

It's pretty clear from the responses to his original tweet along with the comments here that Liam Carrolls tweet is nonsense. Being generous to him it could be described as an exaggeration based on isolated incidents; I'm more inclined to take the view that it is unacceptable for someone with a professional representation relationship with several of our players to be making this stuff up and posting it on social media.

I can't imagine that 'local media' will be too happy to be accused of abusing players and staff.Perhaps it is appropriate for the club to have a word in his ear

Did anyone else hear a player being called a fûcking tramp at Finn Harps as is claimed on that thread? Watched on a stream and heard nothing of the kind, and the cheers were audible when we scored

As I said above I heard a smattering of boos at halftime, nothing more. The Shed were in good voice second half, it was far from quiet. His post is a wind-up or shit-stirring. I can't state definitively that there wasn't an isolated voice shouting 'fook sake Perth, sort it out' or similar, but to claim that "fans [plural] and local media abuse players" is at best shit-stirring and at worst libellous

What does an agent actually do? Especially in League of Ireland? Apart from negotiations regarding new contracts, which are all done at this time of the year, is there anything else they are needed for? If a player has a new 2 year deal signed, can’t he just tell the agent to go away for 18 months until it’s time to renegotiate a new deal? This particular agent seems like a bit of a tool and sounds like he has a high opinion of himself!
