Some good results for our underage teams. Good news at last.

The elite underage leagues have officially been postponed. As far as I can see the gaa minor championship is still on. I can't see that happening.
It's looking more and more likely that senior will be postponed.
Where does that leave LOI? Europa? Rugby?

I was very impressed by McDonnell's interview on the DFC website. He is saying all the right stuff and has me excited for the future of that side of the club. For those that haven't heard it some points
- Working with Magilton with the IFA's residential academy (although not mentioned I think if they are serious, a similar might be an option for us)
- Filippo and Giuseppe both have extensive experience with running an academy he is going to work with them and Magilton on developing ours.
- He wants to target for a full time academy
- Possibility of casting the net further than local players
Brexit might present us with a serious option now as it seems players can't move to the UK until they are 18 (I know there are workarounds). If we could start signing the best players that would have gone to the UK this could put us in a position to not only produce players for the first team but to increase transfer fees. Rovers are miles ahead of us in this regard at the moment but if Peak6 are serious about this, I don't think it would take us too long to catch up and overtake them if we went down a residential academy route.

If you really want to lose money at a football club, try to run a full time academy. Money pit.
Brentford had the right idea here.

I probably would have agreed but Brexit may have changed the landscape. Brentford is in London which is saturated with bigger clubs hoovering up all the top talent.dundalkfc1903 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 11:33 am If you really want to lose money at a football club, try to run a full time academy. Looking forward to the start of the underage games whenever it may be , u17 side should be decent this year as alot of them played at that level last season , unfortunately lost a couple of good players but hopefully lads coming from 15s will step up.
