I'm almost certain I saw him pictured with the u13s training a couple of times. Maybe he was brought in to bolster sessions on a few occasions? but you're right he actually was the manager with the 15s

I see the DDSL and NDSL singlehandedly trying to revert Irish underage soccer back to the dark ages. Reminds me of how Louth gaa clubs ignored and continue to ignore the Ógsport Lú approach of the go games. Look how that panned for Louth. I actually despair for sport in this country

Re: Dundalk Underage 13s 15s 17s and 19s
U11s go 9 v 9 and u12s go to 11 v 11
So basically they've given a massive FU to the national plan drawn up by Ruud Doekter, which is 7 aside up to 12 I think? Which was to give room for development of loi academy teams.
Basically, a massive cohort of kids will be jumping from 7 aside, to 11 aside and full sized pitches in less than a year. Taking advantage of the disaster that is unfolding in the ranks in the FAI itself.
I don't know who is running football in this country.

Re: Dundalk Underage 13s 15s 17s and 19s
The current set up is 7 v 7 for u11 and 9 v 9 for u12. Increasing playing numbers also increases pitch size as you have already pointed out. DFC currently have the best squad in the league. Imagine if we could play 13 aside on a Gaelic pitch. We would be unbeatable.Pepsi wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:01 pmI dont think the FAI can answer that question either.....its a shambles.Sneachta wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 8:38 pm U11s go 9 v 9 and u12s go to 11 v 11

Some of these clubs might not have u10s so they are already playing kids up. The strong will get stronger and smaller clubs will fold. Good players in what will now become weaker teams will be "encouraged" to move elsewhere.

DDSL don't care about player development it's all about getting players across the water.
LOI clubs need to start taking players on at 7 or 8 and developing them. I may get flak for this but Rovers really are the model for underage development

Listening to Bills plays for what was called the YDC, I think we may soon see that happening. Maybe not directly, but maybe in cooperation with a local club.

I liked the idea he mentioned along the lines of a football festival hosted by the club for local clubs. That would be amazing, even thinking bigger, what about something like the gothia cup, or even the foyle cup. That would be incredible for football but the local economy as well

I used to live beside the St Joseph's Boys campus in Dublin. There always seemed to be tournaments on with top clubs from all over the world playing. The facilities they had were amazing

Re: Dundalk Underage 13s 15s 17s and 19s
The ex-missues dad was a coach for Kevin's.
They were a proper set up as well. Bringing u11 and 12 teams to play in England (Birmingham/West Brom) and Germany (indoor tournaments in Munich), and winning tournaments. Mental. What happens to these kids then when they go over to England at 15/16 is they get ripped to shreds culturally and just get wrecked living away from home so young. All the more reason to keep our best kids, here at home with their families, building their formative years, coached by highly trained coaches in Ireland. You know the rest of the story.

The influence that Sneachta and Pepsi yield is astounding

@McDonnellDan
Hearing that the backlash against the DDSL for their controversial changes at U11 and U12 level has prompted a rethink - should be statement in the morning.
