The two league cups we left behind in 2015 and 2018 happened when we were focused elsewhere. This season we had enough in hand to focus for the semis and the final, and this season we won't be playing the cup final 3 days after narrowly losing away to the 12th ranked team in Europe with a 5000km round trip. If we play somewhere near our best we'll be ok, but need to be on our game.... Sligo beat us well in Sligo and drew in Oriel already this season. Rovers at their best could push us and Bohs caused us a lot of trouble

There's some bullsh1t story about a former player or director or fan referring to the club as the star of the north west or some such, but in reality it's just a cringeworthy attempt to copy the big boys. I notice Manchester City dropped their nonsense stars recently.

So its Rovers in the final. If we win tomorrow, strap yourselves in for a month of nonsense from RTE,Twitter, etc. Drive for 25, Cup Specialists, Jack Byrne is the greatest player ever to play any sport ever!!! George Hamilton actually described them as "Kings of the Cup, even though they haven't won it in over 30 years"!!!
Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see our lads put a stop to all this nonsense for another year, however if we lose it, I'll be in media lockdown for a couple of weeks!!!

It really does not bear thinking, but imagine if they actually managed to win the damn thing

Aaron Greene displaying his delusional side:
"Bring on Dundalk”.

He said: “That’s 100% our preferred draw. I’m not being rude saying that but we want it.

“They won the league when we thought we could close the gap on them but some of our games against Bohs and Dundalk really cost us this year.

“So definitely, we want Dundalk in the final.”

Ticket still available today from Oriel Park up to 4pm along with kit clearance sale where you can get a 2016 black and gold away shirt – for just €5.
There will be no tickets for away supporters available at The Showgrounds on Sunday (kick-off 5pm), so all Dundalk supporters who wish to attend must purchase a ticket from Oriel Park tomorrow (Saturday).

Tickets are on sale between 10am and 4pm from the YDC, where the Dundalk FC kit clearance sale is taking place.

The Irish Mirror article is funny in a way. " Greene added: “Great teams are only spoken about if you win something. People are giving us a lot of talk but we haven’t won anything so we need to go and win this."
He obviously sees them as being a great team even though they have never won anything ! If winning the cup ( God forbid) would male them a great team, what does our achievements make us, or indeed Cork for that matter.
Agree with Collumull entirely. Have already seen references to the Drive for 25 on Twitter. Recorded the match the other night & watched it later. Apart from claiming Rovers were denied a legitimate penalty for a handball and highlighting it to the Rovers asst manager. GH exulted how Byrne can pass a ball 50m accurately ! Obviously he doesn't watch McEleney, Mc Grath or Gannon too often.
