Re: Injury & Suspension Watch 2020
I don't think the pitch does us any favours injury wise. OK it is great as it is low maintenance and we never have a game abandoned. But does it make any rental income these days? Maybe we should look at reinstalling the grass pitch. We still have the indoor pitch in the ydc for the club to train on.

What's the story with yellow cards in the cup? Shields got one last night, if he was to get one in the semi final would he miss the final? It would be a crying shame if he missed another final...should we get there of course!!

Could we get away with not playing Shields against Athlone? I know it's a cup semi final and we should be going full strength but we also have enough in the squad to get past Athlone.

I expect it'll be pretty much a second string against Athlone, in between the Euro games. And I fear it'll be a second string in the cup final if we get there, seeing as it's less than 72 hours after a trip to Norway, and 4 days before the Arsenal game

I most certainly wouldn't agree with a 2nd string in the cup final.. Its a chance of silverware. We have already made 4m from this europa run. I'd take a pasting from arsenal of it meant we beat rovers in the cup final.

I agree 100% with you (especially when you consider the Arsenal game will be a dead rubber).... I dunno if the powers that be will thoughniall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 10:33 amI most certainly wouldn't agree with a 2nd string in the cup final.. Its a chance of silverware. If anything has been proved correct this year, it is our second string are nowhere near good enough. I wouldn't be making too many changes for Athlone, as for cup final if we make it, has to be best xi.

Worst possible news for Garts. Really hope he can come back from this.

Big big loss for us as he was a leader on the pitch and a colossus for us in many many games.
Where do we go from here, is there any centre halves that are out of contract that are suitable? If only having four centre halves when playing three at the back is a risk, then three is a monumental risk.

There is/was a young centre half, Tom Gaston, on trial. Has 4 Ireland U21 caps.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 12:25 pm Big big loss for us as he was a leader on the pitch and a colossus for us in many many games.
