DECLAN Devine believes his Derry City squad is much better equipped to bring silverware back to Brandywell this season and the City boss can’t wait to unleash his players at Oriel Park tonight.

So the questions over starting line up tonight are
Leahy/Massey
Which cbs
Sloggett or Flores

I expect the team to be
Rogers
Ganno Boyle Cleary Massey
Sloggett Shields
Kelly Mceleney Duffy
Hoban

However I would like to see Flores in there ahead of Sloggett who I think vinny like to see if he can build on his excellent pre-season

Wouldn’t be so sure about that. I read somewhere that the FAI didn’t renew the trackchamp deal for this season.

Fats and Georgie didn't even make the bench. Strange that we don't have a striker on the bench yet we have 2 centre halves considering that apart from Mountney we had a full squad to pick from.

Attendance of 3156. A positive start to the season attendance wise

Maybe not that positive. James Rogers has it 200 ltd than the Sligo game this time last year

First game of season I would have hoped for high 3k and closer to 4k. 3156 while I thought that figure to be less than was there tonight is still imho a poor return for a season opener. The weather was perfect. So imagine what the attendance will be like v Cork on Monday week.

First half was some of our worst walking pace football from last year, but stepped it up well. Really good half hour in the second half and deserved to win. Not great game management to see it out, though. Their right back had Duffy in his pocket til he got cramp. Flores was the best baller on the pitch. Derry’s play deep and hit on the break was ineffective.

Ground looked as full as can be expected and as full as it deserves to be. Dunno where anyone thinks these extra hundreds are supposed to go

You're like a dog with a bone. It was a fine evening there would be people standing on grass watching GAA matches in worse conditions. There was loads of room outside the shed and on the 5 min terrace. On a fine evening like tonight and the first game of the season 3100 imho is a poor return for the Champions of Ireland.

And don’t forget a very healthy crowd down from Derry, disappointing home crowd
