He’ll say he didn’t get a proper run in the team in his preferred position.
Anyway , I hope this is a sign that VP is making changes to the squad.
What’s the latest on Sami Ben Amar anybody?

A positive sign.

I have a feeling Peak6 have become more focused on the task at hand. A glimpse at another European run may have got them thinking again..Purely speculation of course.
Vinny’s recent words makes you wonder if he knows they might be giving it another shot. Even if Matt has lost interest Bill might not want to give up his hobby. Could be a sign that they’ll stay with more oversight to stop agents taking the old man to the cleaners again. If they can control spending while holding onto our best players they’ll have fixed a lot of the damage they did.

Midstkogen was stuck on the wing a few times and looked very awkward, when wasn't suited to that position.

Heard nothing on Ben Amar, but from the previous foreign imports its hard to get excited. He could be another that would struggle to adapt to the league, but who knows.

Any player for whom we are providing accommodation, and is unlikely to feature for the rest if the season, is bound to come under review. Even if we are still paying wages, there is a big saving in expenses. Match day squad is now 20. While BFG is unlikely to figure this season, Cleary's impending return leaves us looking along these lines

Abibi, Cherrie
Jurkovskis, Dummigan, Leahy, Adedokun
Boyle, Nattestad, Cleary
Stanton, Sloggett, McEleney, Patching, Murray, Zahibo
Duffy, Kelly, Han
McMillan, Hoban.

3rd is a big ask at the moment, so we are looking at Europe by retaining the Cup, or 4th with Pats or Rovers winning the Cup. Bohs winning it is unlikely to be of benefit to us, given that we will probably need to overtake them to finish 4th anyway. (unless Sligo go into freefall)

If we make it, our coefficient going into next years competition would 9.5, enough to be seeded in 3 rounds of ECL. Even if we missed a year and came back in 2023, we will only drop 1.0 from the horrendous year that was 2017. A coefficient of 8.5 is still enough for 2 rounds, the 3rd would be marginal. Rovers have already done enough to be seeded next year as they have 7.0, plus whatever they can scrounge if they make the group stages.

I see dave Rogers has been appointed a youth team coach at Notts forest, working under Andy Reid. Could have been a decent option for assistant to vinnie if reports of how good he is are true.

What reports? Vinny didnt want him so doesnt really matter how good he is at chatting about football on a local podcast.

Don't know about Vinnie, but he appears to me to be a bit too fond of social media, in particular telling everybody how wonderful they are. It will be interesting to see if it's toned down now that he has a job.

Come on now be realistic here. How would that work? Magilton wanted him in as manager and didn't want Vinny back. So how do you think that would play out? You have to work well with, and trust your number 2.

No one one would have played better or managed better if they had a longer contract today .
A timely reminder that we’re in transition , caution needed , let’s not rush in to anything .
Outside of manger - and those a major target for other clubs ( 5 players maybe ) should be tied down for continuity . Everyone else - needs to play for a contract .

There is players at the club that are among the best in the league and we are seriously in danger of losing them like we did with Hoare, Gannon, Shields and McEleney. You could possibly add Mountney, Massey and Rogers to that list also who'd still be at the club but for Bill.

I think we would all agree that we needed a rebuild at some stage but if the lads mentioned above were still at the club this year we would be much closer to the top than bottom.

Seeing as Rovers lost McEneff and Byrne and are now confirmed to be losing their best defender in Scales, it feels even more like this season was a complete botch job when the opportunity was there to regain the title.

Shamrock Rovers will have a good budget for next season. if they make the Conference group stages along with the fee for Scales. I doubt they will be signing a load of Americans, and having to cover a big rent bill for players who never played.

Talking about Rovers . Watched BT Sports match , when they beat Partisan Belgrade away . Stevie O Donnell & Chris Turner were immense . O’ Donnell getting the winner . The ground he covered was incredible & the last minute blocks in the box , to prevent them scoring . Never seen or heard such partisan atmosphere. That Rovers team were one of the best . Definitely worth a watch .,Enda Stevens had an incredible game.👍
