No idea what the next tie-break is, it'd only matter if Bohs drop points in both their league games and lose the cup final though!
I'm pretty sure its head to heads which we would have two wins and a draw to Derry's win and a draw.

Bohs are in abs pole position for 4th, win one of their last 2 and not only finish 4th but confirmed for europe as they are in cup final.

We have to hope for maybe 3 other results, 2 in the league, then beat Derry, then hope Pats win the cup, stranger things and all that, but far too fetched.

If there were even one more round of games, we might have finished 4th, but then again maybe same could be said in 1995, one more game and we could have ended up 3rd !

With the quality in this squad (despite the catastrophic recruitment policy) Europe at at minimum should never have been in question. Considering someone's going to need probably 44 points to avoid the playoff it could have been a whole lot worse.

A mediocre goalkeeper instead of a terrible one, a manager instead of Filippo, anyone instead of Magilton.... I don't think Vinny has covered himself in glory this season, but if he'd be in charge throughout we'd certainly be Top 3.

How many times did Vinny pick Abibi or even the new keeper over Cherrie?
Almost up until the fans were let back, Vinny's points per game was worse than Magiltons or Filiippo's.
You cannot be a bad manager and take a LOI team to the Europa league group stages and win your domestic cup.
We can see the difference the crowds made to Vinny's reign, we never got to see that with Giovagnioli.

Simple as that isn’t it? Starting 11 last night had no outfield players recruited this year and the goalkeeper was a player who had returned. Says a lot when we made over a dozen signings including two more in the summer.

The performances in the group stages were good despite picking up points. They actually scored more goals in the group stages last year then under Stephen Kenny in.16.

The performance against Bohemians was excellent in the Cup also.

There can be no defense of Filippo. He didnt even put together a pre season!

And he signed Mitskogen, Abibi and Sonni. Tall = good was his main philosophy.

If fans had've been allowed in , he would have been hounded out of the job. He got off lightly in the end.

I'd say you're right here Mike, but if Rovers can get a point at Dalymount on Friday then at least we'll go into the final day with something to play for, which could make for another great atmosphere at Oriel.

Considering Bohs are missing a few U21s and Rovers will feel they've a point to prove after losing there twice already this season, hopefully we'll still be in it on the final day.

Then we can just hope that Sligo can extend their unbeaten run (four games) for a couple more, so that any win will do for us vs Derry... and who knows, maybe Bohs will get jittery at The Showgrounds on the final night.

You cannot ignore the fact that Filippo got Dundalk to the EL group stages.
Michael O'Neil got the NI job after getting Rovers there and you'd have to say the same about Kenny, he didn't get the Ireland job on the basis on winning the LOI.

Vinny didn't exactly bin Sonni and Abibi when he got in did he?
He simply refused to pick Cherrie, even brought in Cameron Yates instead of playing him and when Yates got injured, what did he do? Went back to Abibi.

Yep, Filippo took someone elses squad to the Europa group stages. Then he began dismantling it (with the help of others of course)

A bit different to Kenny and O'Neill who built squads from the ground up.

Vinnys subsequent mistakes dont bail FG out of what he did.

FG was a good coach and motivator, he can always point to Europe and the cup. He was too inexperienced to be left in charge of recruitment and preseason.
