WatchLOI or whatever it is called should be a seperate company, have no links to clubs other than sharing its profit with all teams involved at the end of a season.

Had the FAI received the full amount of money for the 4700 season ticket holders last season, plus the 6000 subs that signed up the project would have had generated revenue of €588,500 working off the lower price of €55 and not taking day passes into account, minus €300k RTE claim were their costs...€288,500 profit.
But why should season ticket holders have to pay? Last season like every season I paid for 2 allocated stand season tickets. This year my money is still in the club coffers, so I would at the very least expect I get free access to any online streaming of matches.
Niall what I am saying is it would be up to the club to pay your sub in full to WatchLOI or to come to another arrangment with you. WatchLOI cannot be the pawn to keep fans happy at reduced rates , otherwise the project will never get off the ground and the FAI/RTE will always have the excuse it doesnt generate enough money.

I think it's fair to say that both RTE and the FAI are in a worse financial state than the clubs. Donnybrook is facing salary cuts and redundancies, so - politically - they can't take on anything that's not making a decent profit.

You could argue that RTE should be working within their means and not needing to make a decent profit, breaking even should be enough. Sure arent they funded by the TV license payer?? Likewise...the FAI are broke...all inhouse, jobs for mates and keeping rebels outside. You are not going to tell me no one knew what JD was at and these people are still in their positions?? Too many heads in sand and looking after mates.....so I do think it should be expected that the FAI and RTE take on a service without expecting to make money on it. LOI has been neglected for long enough and is in no way at fault for the problems within the FAI and RTE.

Maybe if the big earners within rté and fai were on vastly reduced salaries, maybe just maybe they might make a profit. The top 10 highest earners in rté earned 9m between them from 2017-2019. The top 2 tubbs and D'Arcy earned €950k between for each of those 3 years. Highly inflated and totally u justified salaries.

Lads the top boy over sport in RTE (McBennett) is a bog ball merchant from Monaghan who couldn't give a fiddlers about LOI. The FAI should be maybe looking towards Eir, Virgin or Sky and forget about the RTE shiteshow.

The pity is that RTE as a public service broadcaster are better able to suck up costs than any commercial operator.

Until we know what version of Watch LOI we’re getting this year it’s hard to say what we should do. But I personally prefer the idea of the club keeping it in house and getting all the profit if they’re able to.

Maybe Bet Regal would pay for the costs in return for live broadcasts with in match betting on their website? That would be in addition to a paid for stream broadcast by the club with no betting of course.

Don't start me, Niall! Ludicrous the amount of money these people are paid.

Good to see the club filling some of the gaps with the new GK coach and doctor. The doc has the most Irish name I’ve ever heard!

New doc seems to have a back ground and specialty in sports medicine rather than being a GP

Interview with Pat Hoban on the website. Disappointing to see Sean Murray 'recovering from injury' yet again.

https://www.dundalkfc.com/hoban-on-the-comeback-trail/
“It’s a proper league, isn’t it? You’re telling me that winning the league after 18 games is winning a league? It’s not. It’s like being top of the table in June and saying ‘we won the league’. Come on. Let’s be realistic here.

“Before we went into the games last summer I said it was ridiculous. I could not see myself, if we had won the 18-games last season, celebrating like we had won the league, especially after winning three before that. I just couldn’t do it.
hah!

Hope you're right Robbie, would love to see how good he could be with a long run in the side.

Spoke to him directly outside the Aviva after the cup final and helped him carry beer on to the bus for the team! All a bit surreal. He was on his way the following week to London to see a specialist before his operation. He told me it kept flaring up since he joined and was hopeful this was the answer
