2022 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals

Post by oldfogey » Wed Oct 20, 2021 9:15 am

This thread is long overdue as there has been no discussion other than 2022 for a number of months now. No point in opening it up after the first signing is announced.

Hopefully it won't be too long before there is something concrete to discuss.

If we knew Vinny had signed a new deal we could at least think about what sort of players he'd like to bring in but even that seems to be undecided for whatever reason. We also still have no idea who's in charge of recruitment if anyone is. Super agent isn't about the place anymore I've heard. Jimbo? Vinny? Florida-man? Who knows?

I don't understand why nothing at all has been announced yet in terms of resignings. Ok the budget is being slashed from 'ludicrous' to hopefully 'still competitive' and a sale may or may not be happening but we still have to put 11 players on the pitch in February. Waiting every year to see if we qualify for Europe before trying to build a squad is going to get us nowhere. So just letting everyone we have negotiate away with other clubs since July and us waiting until December or January and seeing whatever slim pickings are left is a recipe for relegation next year to be honest. It would be great to go into the cup semi final knowing one or two key players had been retained. Would give everyone a huge lift.

With a mooted earlier start to the season clubs will be back training 1st January. The more organised S&C departments (us in the past) will be monitoring players during December. Anyone we haven't signed/are not negotiating with by the middle of December is probably not what we are looking for, or is a swan dressed as an ugky duckling. Yes, I know Chris Shields was signed as cover for CB at the last minute because he had no offers, but that kind of find is really once in a decade.

Bobby Baby, Mr.Perth will be sacked for a second time soon. Like his little comrade southerncomfort

I mentioned yesterday on a thread that Greg Sloggett has signed a new deal. I hear that Cammy has also re-signed.

A meeting between the players apparently happened in a certain players house last week. It was agreed and reported to the board via the core senior group that no players would sign back if Mr.Perth was still in charge.

I would imagine that vinny is in the same boat as the players. If there is a takeover then the potential new owners will want their own man in as manager, who in turn will want his own backroom staff and players in.
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

That's a good point but the clock is ticking. I remember Gerry Matthews pulled the plug on a takeover in 2011 I think it was because negotiations had gone on so late that we had to get our licence application in and all the rest of it. As that was going on Foster's contract ran out, the player's contracts all ran out and it was a shitshow after that as we all know. The new owners if there's going to be new owners don't have time on their side. They are not buying a stable club.

theory that certain folks get favourable coverage from certain jounos in exchange ( unconsciously albeit ) for tips and inside tracks, bolstered again . perrhaps dan didn't choose the photo ( as if ) but a (not so subtle ) attempt to make strongly link the current manager with P6 . '' Let's pop a smug photo of Vinny under a snide P6 headline '' ... Transparent stuff danno , subtly demonising our manger ... and mostly based on attempts to justify a two pager in 2020 full of waffle , and because the off the records come from elsewhere

My theory is nonsense if
- vp now owns P6 after a hostile take over
- hullsizer has invested billions in cosmetic surgery and looks like 40 year old dub :-)

I am by no means Downer Dan’s biggest fan but I’d say he has no control over the photo that gets attached to his articles . It’s a sub editor who does this and writes the headlines afaik.

Anyway, according to the article, Andy C/ Statsports are now the main takeover consortium.
The ‘Dublin Buiness Man’ ( who is this guy ??) is no longer part of this syndicate.

Looks to me like a Mexican standoff with everybody waiting to see if we win the cup and hence get Europe. Ties in to what Rogers said on his podcast.
So if we win the cup and have guaranteed future income from Europe maybe P6 stay and so do the core of our squad?
Or maybe we lose on Friday night, P6 take the money and run, we lose our best players but we get a local consortium to run the club?
What do you think?
What do fans want??

I think the journo not choosing the pic is generally true and a good line of defense
But sure when it's LOI though , the sub editor checks with the specialist journo , and the jouro should say 'hey the manager is not the P6 investor and didn't just Invest in wolves himself personally so the photo makes no sense .

It's a strange pic to choose . But perhaps I need a tin foil hat at this stage , it all looks obvious from where in standing !

on the ownership - urgent clarity needed . Albeit - a high % of the speculation that's led to the uncertainty in the first place comes from ' sources ' with their own agenda

Paul Lennon in the Star says the players possibly staying are Sloggett, Cleary, Leahy and Dummigan. Half decent news if true, I would like to see all those stay. With Boyle at least that would mean a whole defence.

These would be my top 5 to stay personally. Leaves us with some sort of semblance of a spine to work with for next season. Would love Hoban and Stanton as well but can see them both being picked up by other clubs.

A good base alright . Hopefully we're way ahead of that . If that's all we have in place there's no chance of getting value for money deals for the rest we'll be an easy target for agents off loading at a high price . Fingers crossed theres more we're not seeing . If not it's worrying.
What are they actually actually doing ?? If not planning for next season ? We have very expensive staff that look after this stuff ? Every other club is in an advanced stage ...so you have to presume we are too

All Things LOI on Twitter now saying Andy C/ Statsports consortium will NOT be taking over.
Paul Lennon in the Star saying superagent Mags Byrne ex
Sunderland is another interested party. Do we know anything about her?

Edit: just looked her up. Definitely heard that an agent from south Armagh was looking involved in the club a long time ago. Must have been her .
Nothing online that would give me any confidence that she could bring us forward unfortunately

Do we know anything about her? She employed that parasite Liam Carroll, so we know she's a grade A cnut.

They'll be even worse news than Peak6.
Liam Carroll is a piece of shit. A fcuking leech.
