Dundalk v Longford Town | League Series 34| Sun 07 November 2021 ko 17.00

Tickets already available on line and at the gate on Sunday.

Given that it's a must win game - to have a chance of 4th - I would hope to be 2 up inside 30 minutes and then work on our goal difference. With Longford already relegated - and the manager's post advertised - I don't expect a "new manager" bounce after Daire Doyle's departure. Midfield looked very tired last night and I would like to see Dummigan get another run in midfield. Maybe Animasahun to get a start as well.

As mentioned on another thread, should still be a good atmosphere, it will be mostly dark at 5pm kick off with lights on, good time too I think.

But heres the but.............we have yet beat them this season and the only damn PD team not to either!

It's a mad stat... what's more, over a third of their points (5/14) have come from matches with us.

Sums up a bonkers season that, even if we win on Sunday, we'll still have taken more points from Shamrock Rovers than Longford.

Duff was probaly looking at players from both teams. A few of the Longford players could do a job for Shels.

Thought their keeper was very good. Wouldn't be out of place here.

Or had we beaten longford in the previous 3 encounters. Or started Cherrie as number 1 all season?

1 WIll Patching only developed as a player in Derry because he played every week.

2 We had Shields, Stanton, Murray, Sloggett and McEleney in midfield. How was he going to get game time?

Not really relevant what he could have done for us. But he directly helped Derry amass their points total. And we are chasing them.

First half performance was a bit sloppy but we were much better in second and should have scored a few more. Duffy (going to be an unimaginable loss), Murray, Stanton and Dummigan all excellent. We actually have the nucleus of a decent team if we can hang on to players. We do have a few passengers too that just don't offer enough.

If we could hang on to the back five from yesterday, Jurkovskis, Garts (if he can get back to fitness), the lads mentioned above, Sloggett and Hoban I think we would be solid with four or five additions Like James Brown (Drogs), James Talbot or Ed McGinty, Liam Kerrigan and Colm Whelan from UCD, Barry McNamee & Owalabi from Harps.

Barry Mcnamee is a nurse and that's why he stepped down to harps. Can't see him leaving his job to join us and go full time.
