It really depends on the model that the club look at and what the benefits of being a 'member' are (because the club is not going to 'member owned', you do not need to follow the models of Bohs and Foras of bigger fan investment).

Germany for example have strong membership clubs, with clubs like Koln and Borussia Mönchengladbach having over 100,000+ members. The benefits they have is a voice on the board, but also ticket reductions for season and matchday tickets (which would be 10 or 15 percent). Fees are much more reasonable, around 50-80 euro a year (so 5-8 euro a month, which is doable for the majority of people), but they also have a scale for ages, (teens and children can also be members for 2 or 3 euros a month), which would have different benefits.

I would say there would be massive additional bonus for having cheaper membership schemes. One), fans who would not be so hard-core as to maybe go to every home game, but still have some gra for the club, are more likely join, connecting them further to the club. Also, smaller membership fees are a lot less likely to be cancelled if people move off from the club. Two), more affordable= less of a barrier for people to get involved with the club (esp younger fans who wouldn't have cash flow to spend 200-300 euro a year on membership). Thirdly, (and most importantly), when going to local Government looking for funding for a stadium, it would much better to say you have 900 paying members rather than 250.

The German clubs in the Bundesliga (apart from Leipzig) have more members than game attendance. Those are big clubs, but you could aim to have 1/3 of average attendance as members (around the 1000 mark). It is not so much in our footballing culture here, so there would be a need for a consistent push, but it would be an interesting experiment, and allow for a strong network of fans to be built.

Great piece on the club website as we hear from the new owners for the first time:

Positive, forward-looking, ambitious, in touch with the community. More of this please.

Very positive piece, really looking forward to tomorrow night and the new era for the new group.

Lets all get behind them from the start, will be a lot of work ahead for them but a challenge is good, positivity around the town and local area is great to hear and feel !

Don't expect magic wands, but we should have a damn well run club and back in local hands.

What do people think of MCs interview last nigth on the Town End Podcast? He spoke a lot without telling us anything new, however he did get a dig in on a local journalist / Podcaster who claimed it could be a part time setup etc.

Speculation that we could be part time is/was a strange one.

I wonder which allegedly jilted former suitors of the club and their little mates could have started that one about their successful rivals.

I liked Martin's interview - straight, no empty promises, knocked some nonsense on the head, explained there can be no grand plans expected this soon. Pretty diplomatically didn't mention that they were handed a shitshow which is going to take a while to clean up.

I suppose there is two ways you can look at it, yes it could be argued it's a shit show. There is no players, coaches and medical staff. Then again, there is no players, coaches, or medical staff. Most of Peak6 appointments have been horrendous. Thankfully they have left us with no baggage of contracts for players/staff that aren't up to it. Mammoth task for new owners but it's a blank slate.

Conor Hoey has had a go at the previous owners for bringing in gambling sponsorship after Harry Taaffe’s death given the link between gambling and mental health problems. I’m not sure it was appropriate to make that link.

He'd be better off worrying about his own club and their failings.

Were Statsports always based in Newry? If not why did they base themselves there, Brexit?

Not sure, but maybe it was for easier access to one of their main markets which appears to be PL and the Championship in England.

Think I read somewhere that they originally went North because they got government funding etc. to develope their product.
