The takeover was a bit funny in that the club seems to have been up for sale even before Vinny came back but nothing actually happened for months and as recently as two weeks ago it looked like nothing might happen for a long time. Then all of a sudden the deal went through. Have they even had time to have their people go through the books and all that? I think in that environment it's unreasonable to expect the new owners to have already been in a position to hire a new manager, know what players they needed to try retain etc. It's not even two weeks yet and the previous owners policies are the reason we are where we are. They need time and hopefully people will be a bit more patient than some of the noises.

I was told in October that Andy and Statsports separately had their accountants look at the books. They immediately knew that the budget P6 had in place was unsustainable.

That might explain where the 250,000 thing came from so - they knew how much was needed to settle bills and so on.

Anyone think Marc Bircham could be a serious option should Vinny not get the job?

No. We are better than that pepsi. What did he do with waterford? Nothing. He is too whingey and on twitter far too much..

Certainly should be considered. However, Im told that there is of course a number one target and talks are ongoing.

not hating the Bircham idea actually ( while remaining firmly in favour of vp )

he will have a level of personality that can deal with the job and the circus around it , plus a strong CV . Don't see he's done enough to justify it at Waterford at all ( literally didn't shift the dial league position wise ) - maybe falling into the trap of liking the personality ahead of the competence - but mixing his previous experiance and LOI experiance, ... Just might work . vp on a short term would be preferable , but this could be good

he's definitely pissed of someone in Waterford given that statement

*******
Just read on other thread that Bircham has connections and is similar to magilton - I withdraw all positivity above about him !

Who is the number one target people are hearing then?

Surely Stevie O D?

There’s no Stephen Kenny out there unfortunately. None of the linked names would get you excited

Seriously. O'Donnell and Buckley are in contract at clubs who finished streets ahead of us and have Europe. Do people really think the new owners are going to blast the top 3 out of the water financially?

Declan Devine was harsly enough sacked by Derry earlier in the season. He's a good manager, won the Fai Cup in his previous spell. Might be the best of whats available in Ireland. Either that or somebody from England/Scotland.
