Not sure if I mentioned it here last week or not but what about John Caufield?

Hated him at Cork but hes proven at the top level and has managed a league winning side and a side in Europe?

We had possibly the best ever LOI side and he managed to pip us to the league and twice to FAI cup.

Got the best out of Sean Maguire after his spell with us and did well with Galway this season finishing runners up.

He has been around the league long enough to know it and could attract some decent players.

Whoever comes in, its all important to build a good background team around them. Focus just can not be on the manager. I think that was a problem for Perth.

I do not know how players are going to be available, since the new owners are starting late, but if the players are not there, putting resources into coaching in trying to rebuild is a good option.

There was me thinking a manager had been appointed and 10 signings made with all the new posts in here. Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons .... I heard Friday night that we may be getting a manager from the UK. Someone who has a record in youth and reserve team football ..... someone PL clubs would trust with their players if they came on loan.

Was actually thinking they could be an option. With StatSports links surely they have up and coming coaches as contacts.

Jim Magilton ns as boss, Vinny as Physio (he has some good experience here I believe) and John Gill aka SouthernComfort in as chief squeaky voice.

However, Stevie O would be brilliant. Failing him Tim Clancy is well respected and himself called Vinny a fraud after their loss recently.

Garts as number 2 no matter what happens.

John Caulfield not a bad shout, but he signed a new deal in September until 2023 with Galway.
Thought Galway would have done better in play offs, maybe next year..Cork have made good signings in the off season, so will be another competitive first division next year

Caulfield had a good budget at Galway and blew a big budget at Cork. Not for me. Lucked out one time with Sean Maguire.

I don’t see that Clancy has done enough yet but he’s well regarded so I don’t know. I’d like O’Donnell but he’s hardly leaving Pats at the minute.

I still think Vinny deserves a shot in a normal environment but then he’s probably still taking calls from Bill Hulsizer. Unfortunately for him there’s more to it than just on the pitch. He’s a Peak6 man. Having said that I think he’s shown his limitations too. We often look very pedestrian and it’s very frustrating to watch.

it's November , pre season In a couple of weeks , a non LOI manager would be an awful call unless 1st team manager pedigree ( although magilton managed in the premiership )

Derry making their announcements already , if no announcements ( even clarity on exits ) in the next day or so it's poor . If we can't tie down the ideal candidate - then - who is making the footballing decisions ( recruitment / pre season ) in the gap ? Can we bring back Bill as a consultant maybe ? ?

You spent all summer telling this forum that the owners weren’t obliged to tell us anything, that they knew what they were doing as the weeks and months dragged on and that people had to give them time. Now it's ‘poor’ that the new owners aren’t announcing things within days of the season ending 10 days after they inherited this mess. Listen to yourself.
