Horgan hit the ground running best of luck to him,it doest say much for towell who seems to be happy playing no football when he probably could have knocked the manager's in January to go on loan,Horgan is a cert for an international call up again.

If you really think that Towell is content to settle for playing for the Brighton development squad, then you understand little about the character and attitude of the man. There is no doubt that he is hugely frustrated at the unfortunately series of events for him at Brighton. The decision not to go out on loan is more likely to have been his managers and time will tell the wisdom of that. Of course it is difficult to break into a winning team, but RT is no quitter.

How well Daryl Horgan is doing does not say anything at all about Richie Towell, other than indicating that they both have the ability to shine at this level

Meanwhile, Portsmouth first-team coach Ian Foster has left the club by mutual consent to take up a post with the Football Association at St George's Park.

Foster joined Portsmouth in May 2015 alongside manager Paul Cook and assistant Leam Richardson having previously held a similar role at Coventry City.

That's some move for Fozzie, good luck to him, I hope he concentrates on defending tactics this time !

I was at the Preston V Wigan game on Saturday on an DLK UK scouting report. Horgan was decent without being spectacular which was similar to Preston in general. Made some good runs, passed it well, and had a couple of speculative pot shots. He was caught out defensively a few times which was surprising but he seems to be well liked by Preston fans except for one idiot who kept referring to him as a hobbit though that might have been a term of endearment. Overall Hogan fitted in well and was given a good response when subbed on about 80 minutes. It would have been good to see Andy Boyle get some game time. My feeling is that in the long run Boyle may be the more successful of the two if he gets a good run in the team.

You probably noticed that on the day, the 2 Centre Backs were very good and it is difficult at the moment for Andy Boyle to displace one of them. He will get his chance.....he's just got to be patient and ready to take that chance when it comes along.

Horgan with an assist. Was involved in a lot of Preston chances judging by the highlights. Fair play

Another good game from Daryl. A bit disappointed that Andy Boyle didn't make his debut today. I'm sure he'll get his chance very soon.

I see Dundalk started off with a good win on their defence of their title. Always nice to start off with a win, especially when the team has been changed quite a bit.
