A very typical Richie Towell goal, popping up where it matters when it matters. Super technique and a cool controlled finish.

I hope he proves himself too good for league 1

Sweet finish. I hope he proves he's more than capable for championship by being outstanding in league one. Never got a chance at Brighton and pushed himself too hard. Put himself under a lot of pressure. Hopefully he can relax now and get regular football

Stephen Kenny backs former star turn Richie Towell to produce the goods at Rotherham
So says his ex-Dundalk boss Stephen Kenny who is relieved to see his former star turn finally get a run at it.

Rotherham have gone from relegation candidates to promotion chasers since Towell arrived. Another big 5-1 win today
Horgan not getting game time at Preston. Andy Boyle has fallen off the radar.

How fickle the fortune of a professional footballer can be. Change in manager, loan move and Horgan and Boyle who were looking set up and Towell was in a rut and it seems to have been turned on its head.

I noticed Boyle was not even making the squad but I heard last Friday that one of his close family members had a very serious illness. Hopefully things have improved now if this was the case.

Plenty of games for both and in particular Horgan who is closer to the first team to make an impact.

Faz giving Ian Foster some compliments on his management style....

Everything starts with the manager - Fahrudin Kudozovic

Interesting observations but what stands out in that for me is
" The quality is even with Ireland, but Irish players are fitter and financially, it’s also on a par.

An even smaller league, more part time and smaller average crowds - thats a pretty damning observation and highlights how the FAI are so remiss in leading the domestic game here. I'd guess that the gap in TV revenue and przemoney between the 2 leagues is how they are financially on a par!?

Another young ex dundalk player Anton Reilly now playing for warrenpoint in centre half position.Watched him last week against Linfield was voted man of the match 2 weeks in a row.Mattew Tipton seems to be getting the best from him.

It's good to hear of Anton's progress - I hope he can keep his progress going. First team competitive football is an obvious way for any young player to improve himself.

Daryl Horgan comes on as a sub to create the winning goal. Preston go to 4th in the Championship
Hull City 1 -2 Preston North End

On the counter, Preston were rewarded with just two minutes left when Robinson headed into an empty net from Daryl Horgan's right-wing cross.

Michael Hector playing at #5 for Hull in that game as well.

I think that's him that gets tangled up with the ball as Horgan snatched it away for the cross (quality not great) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-40yCY1tB2s
