What is the overall impression with PNE under Neil as opposed to grayson and has the managerial change adversely affected Horgan's and Boyles progression?

I haven’t seen as many games as I would have liked this season, but I’ll try to answer your question.

The majority of fans prefer Neil to Grayson as we are now an attacking force and not a boring defensive team. The unfortunate thing is that the wheels have come off somewhat as we have suffered several serious injuries especially in central defence.

Andy Boyle had an average pre season and was behind 3 or 4 others in the pecking order, and he was unable to force himself into a team who only conceded 4 goals in the first 10 games. That has changed drastically over the last 5 games as we’ve picked up several serious injuries. Boyle came in last night and did a good job in a defence that was very disjointed. Boyle now has the opportunity to nail down his position in the team. I hope he takes this opportunity.

Daryl Horgan on the other hand, hasn’t regressed but doesn’t get much game time under Neil. I don’t think Neil likes Horgan (just my personal opinion) but again hopefully he will get his chance and take it. Problem for Daryl is that we have about 8 good front line players vying for 4 positions.

Andy Boyle played the full 90 minutes yesterday for PNE away at Ipswich and was one of only a few players to come out of the game with any credit. He needs to continue to play well and hopefully when the team is strengthened by some injured players returning, he manages to keep his place.
It’s not easy to look good in a team ravaged by injuries!

My personal opinion of Andy is that he is a good defender who lacks a little height. He is ideal to partner a big centre back, but that is something that we lack apart from Huntington. Majority of clubs in the Championship have big strapping centre backs of 6’4” or bigger and when they come up for set pieces they create all sorts of problems for us. Hopefully, Andy will kick on now, but I suspect he will finish up being a squad player.

Andy Boyle is a class centre half and a great baller.
Unfortunately his talents won't be noticed until he is past his best

Andy Boyle played the full 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Bolton. He was generally very sound and he’s doing a good job. I don’t know whether he’ll keep his place when other defenders return from injury, but at least he’s shown the Manager that he can be relied upon to do a decent job.

Daryl came on with 20minutes to go, but to be fair he didn’t get much chance to shine as Preston were average at best in the final third.

What's your overall opinion of all the new Irish lads there?

I see Richie scored the equaliser in ultimately a 2-1 loss earlier. He's doing OK. Brighton might make a few quid on him yet.

Good luck to Paddy. I thought he came on in leaps and bounds with us. I was sorry to see him leave.
